some help creating a 2hr set

well,

i'll be throwing a 2 hr set for my birthday next week and i want to impress the crowd with the tune selection.

Where i'll be playing, the crownd wont be very much interested on how profesional the mixes sound so the tune selection is what will impress them..

so, what Trance and Progressive Trance tunes (and if possible in what order) do you recommend....???

Classics will be the best.. any ideas??

thanks in advance..

just bring alot of your records which you think people there will be into
and play off the vibe

some classics will be nice..
any recomendations??

Are you running off of CDJs? Otherwise, good luck finding the records...

It's really hard to recommend the order of the tracks (it'd be my opinion on what would sound good, not yours), but if you want classics...

Sasha -- Xpander

Way Out West -- Mindcircus (G & D Remix)

The Quest -- C Sharp

Yahal & Eyal Barken (sp?) -- Voyager

System F -- Out Of The Blue

And of course:

Binary Finary.

lol, that made me laugh.

But yeah, its the only positiva re-releases of the set I bought, nice having such a good choice of remixes.

And to get back to the topic, take a ton of records/cds with you, a little of everything (even tho you don't like it others still may) and you should be good to go. Most of all Have Fun!!!

Wavy Gravy's always good too. Jose Amnesia- The Eternal never fails either.

well hopefully the people like trance. But eather way dont plan your set out befor hand , its better to just bring what you have and play what you think the crowd will like, thats what proper djing is mate

Man, where the hell does it cost $35? I got it from only-djs.com and I know I didn't spend more than $20 on the double pack. It might have even been more like $15 or something.

*edit* I guess Andskispeed had me beat by a lot. Oh well. The idea is the same.

At our local record shop, they charge around $36 CDN for double LP packs, and since the pack he wants has 2 records in it, thats how much they charge.

Its gay, I pay about $17 CDN for each Vinyl, for just afew it adds up to be a high ass price, I miss england and buying new shit for like 3 quid.

When ppl are dancing you can play some classics.

Always carry a copy of this in my record box. Not to play but it's my lucky charm.

All I can say is, just know your crowd.

Cheers

Yea, I got my copy for $13 @ Virgin. I suppose if you can't get it anywhere else for cheaper or need it really fast then go ahead but that's a pretty steep price.

Cheesy/ Vocal Tunes

Here are some songs that might appeal to the crowd if you want cheesier tunes, tunes with vocals or tunes they might know off the radio .. Some in the list might seem like they don't have a real 'trancey' feel to it and but a trancier remix probably exists..

4 Strings - Into The Night
Age of Love - Age of Love
Angel City - Love Me Right
Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
Britney Spears - Everytime
BBE - Seven Days and One Week
Brainbug - Nightmare
Chicane - Don't Give Up 2004
Culture Beat - Mr Vain
Da Hool - Meet Her At The Love Parade
Darude - Sandstorm, Feel The Beat & Music
Delerium - Silence
Divine Inspiration - The Way
Dirt Devils - The Drill
DJ Sammy - Heaven & Boys of Summer
DJ Snowman - And Then They Start To Dance
DJ Tiesto - Love Comes Again
Ferry Corsten - Punk & Rock Your Body Rock
Fischerspooner - Emerge
Iio - Rapture
JX - You Belong To Me
Jurgen Vries - The Theme
Kelis - Milkshake (lots of dance mixes going around, girls will love)
Kosheen - Catch (Ferry Remix)
Limp Bizkit - Behind Blue Eyes (heard a trance remix of it b4, not the proggy one)
LMC - Take Me To The Clouds Above (sure theres some trancey remix out there)
Novaspace - Time After Time
NRC - Here Comes The Rain
N-Trance - Set You Free
Oxygen - Am I On Your Mind
Olive - You're Not Alone
Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun
PPK - Resurection
Plummet - Damaged
Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up
Roger Goode - In The Beginning (Ferry Remix)
Ron Van De Beuken - Keep Movin' On (Timeless)
Snap - Rhythm is a Dancer
Scooter - The Logical Song (Starsplash Mix)
Underworld - Born Slippy
Vengaboys - Kiss
Yomanda - You're Free
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 440

Proggy tunes that would be popular for a cheesy crowd I can only think of Sander K's remix of Rock Your Body Rock, Beachball, Missy Elliot - Family Affair (Luke Fair Remix), Shiny Disco Balls (Chris Micali Remix) .. maybe some Annie Lennox tracks?

Good Luck dude and have a happy birthday!

Thats a preeety nice (and long) list there. This will help me alot. I'll try to get the most songs that i can before my set (which is tonight in around two hrs.)

But, thanks anyways to everyone that helped. I'll post here and in the review forum about this gig.

Two other fellow TAs will be also playing. It's a TA night!
