Sasha Review @ Aria 09-07-2004!
You know what u gotta do here...
HI
overall...even if i only stayed for a couple of hours the night was awsome!
Steve porter set was reaally good the beginning was awsomme
the begining of sasha sounded good too
nice to meet some new Ta
Sean Walsh kate
and ..the cutest Ta, Melly d
it was nice to see you after all this msn talk
i apreciate what you have done and said to me really much
gotta go work now
oh its melly D...i thought it was B oh well. I saw her too but we were never introduced.
Great times! Was a lot of fun to party with Steve Porter again, as I missed him at Stereo last time due to playing at gravity on the same night. Unsurprisingly, he delivered an excellent funky set with flawless mixing the entire time; this guy really is superb IMO.
The beginning of Sasha's set was a little low on energy, and I was beginning to question his sound a little as most people were just swaying on the dancefloor for the most part. After listening for 3+ hrs though it became apparent that Sasha was really just constructing a set with marvelous flow, and his intro tracks really were good at establishing the mood, with the energy to come later on. He played all over the spectrum, starting with a lot of deep proggy breaks, moving on to some excellent progressive trance, and also playing some sick-assed electro influenced tracks that I would really really like to ID. By the time I left at 8am he really had the energy in the place up high, and was playing some excellent, driving progressive trance that was really rocking the dancefloor. Wish I could have stayed a little bit longer, but I'm still not used to these crazy montreal party hours so 8am was about as long as I could hold out =P
Was nice talking to Malek and Mazen, and nice meeting you j@y; hope to see you guys again soon.
Great night! Got there in time for Steve Porter to rock the place with some awesome music that just got your legs moving. Danced behind the DJ booth for his set. Was nice meeting you j@y and jpx, nice to see you again Malek and Mazen!
Sasha's set started off a little bit weird, but really got pumping after an hour or so. We did some dancing, some relaxing, some chatting.. Was nice hanging out in the VIP area hehe.
Highlight of the night: When Steve Porter played Basement Jaxx - Rendez-Vous (Roger Sanchez Mix).. The crowd (and I) went wild!
nice seeing you guys again.
big night it was
What a good night!...
First time seeing Steve Porter live, he was awesome...
I agree Sasha started off a bit slow but picked it up a bit just in time for me to leave... pretty good though!
J@y, what a nice surprise...it was great to finally meet you, nice talking to you, ur a sweetheart! I had a really fun time
Malek, nice to meet you too, thanks for the pic
... can't wait to do this again!

so nobody talked about the vinyl question....
he only spun with a computer or what?
Sasha played only CDs
i think sean is spot on about the description of Sasha's set. I really liked all of it, he started with Invisible inc. - Stars like he did last year at Aria. I love it, great intro track.
all in all, it was an awesome party, had lots of fun chatting it up with Hansolo, Sooper, Silke, Kate, Sean, Jay and JPX (sti t'est gland pour quitter de si tot) and others
I don't have lots of pics, but they're great
i did not leave the dancefloor for 6.5 hours. last night was unbelievable. restored my faith in clubbing
i will never ever ever get sick of hearing that blades/lake track!
Philth - Graham and Blades! oh yeah
!
Prog tune of the century
Sasha - Cloud Cookoo (Luke Chable remix)
This is one of the first track that got me introduced to prog maybe..a bit less than a year ago ( en ..83 je crois)
but still, even after listening to it over and over again i still feel shivers!!!
i enjoy it soo much
the breakdown is PEUUUURF
:
fuck
im wasted (too many beers
)...i wish i could have made it to montral...stupid quebec city..the worst place in the world....im sure baghdad has more events lately heheh...
well, im going this summer to montreal for sure, would love to meet some TA's!
Cheerz all, I'm happy for u that had a good time!
1 word : WOW !
but , sasha wasn't suppose to play until 10h00 ?
where the funk was Melly D
i wanted to talk to you
oh well... youre gonna have to come some other day to say Hi i hope
i just got home from montreal. if i wasn't completely annihilated, i'm sure a lot more would come to mind from that magnificent nite ... but all i can think of at this point is:
SASHA IS THE MASTER! ... an absolute genius!
this set was by far one of the most stunningly unique and complex i've experienced ... maybe EVER! ... he has left me completely speechless!
...i'm in heaven ... still.
someone press the rewind button ~ i wanna go back there! NOW!
Sporter, on the other hand ...omggg ..his closing set - set me on fire!!
despite being drunk as a skunk and nearly tearing me to the ground tripping out of the dj booth and falling on the LJ console
, he was outstanding!! the energy he created with the few troopers who were left over towards the end ... was pure insanity!
... he really is such a character! so full of witt and funky nrg! love the guy to bits!
it was really, really great to see my friends & the old crew again: JF, Philippe (yea, ur right, where was the MOFO crew?!
), Alexx, Malek, Teddy, Funky, Mazen, Meo, and LOTS LOTS more ... which i can't even begin to list! as always ... ARIA, my dancing temple, never fails to impress .. i had the time of my life, - once again!
ARIA itself is better than ever! the set up of the pre-lounge & the new vip area, the new couches on the sides, the decor, the fans, and not to forget THE SOUND!!! - so warm, crisp and clear & enveloping. it could not have been better!
Thank You ARIA - with all the staff - for the complete ROYALTY treatment, as always!!
... after all this time of living in TO & having to leave soon again for geneva, in my heart it still is #1! ... friday nite just showed me again that there is no comparison to the magic that ARIA houses! jf - u've really got a gem there!
gotta love silke's review
I'm glad you guys had a better time than we did in TO.
Our thoughts were preoccupied with how long it would be before we were suffocated. We couldn't enjoy the music at all.
Next time Sasha comes to TO & MTL, I know where I'll be.

I love Aria.
Funk, Malek, Rich, Solo, Silke ---> you guys rock. Please fight over my first born, because someone deserves it after that most amazing nite!
After this party, and Way Out West a few months back, I don't think I could ever party in Toronto (see: The Guv) again! That would be like going for a dip in a pool of diahrea, after bathing in the warm, sweet natural springs that is Aria.
Thanks everybody.
