Why vocal trance songs tend almost always to be sad?
... I mean there are not enough happy, euphoric (female) vocal trance songs which you can listen to in car when you are in good mood. For example 2 vocal trance songs which everybody knows: Motorcycle - ATRC or Andain - Beautiful Things.. I mean it's not bad that they are a bit sad/melancholy but I noticed recently when I wanted to record a CD for car that it isn't easy to record a cd which don't contain any sad songs. i think there should be more euphoric vocal trance songs.
they can't all be like 'shiny happy people'
Maybe because 'happy' vocals tend to be bercheesy? I dunno.

Really? I always felt there was a real lack of sad vocals.

| Originally posted by Reactic don't think so because there are enough examples that it needn't to be "bercheesy", for example: Flash Brothers - Amen .. why can't more songs be like this? |

Well... listen to happy lyrics by Lasgo, if you must...
"I can see it in your eyes
There's something
Something you have for me"
or listen to any of the tunes on 4 String album.
Besides... sad lyrics are made to induce desire for holding... and holding is good on E. And people remember holding and kissing a total stranger that just needed a hug during a sad moment in a song at a rave. And they will remember the tune... and they might even buy it...
C'mon - what's sadder than "Smack my bitch up"? or "I did it all for the nookie"?
try oceanlab - clear blue water (ferry corsten mix)
that song never ceases to satisfy
I think i agree that many happy vocals do tend to be quite cheesy. For me darker, deeper and wierd vocals do more. They stay in my head and i can relate to them. One of the most amazing vocal tracks has to be Rui da Silva 'Touch me'.
"Andain - Beautiful Things" isn't a depressing track and happy vocals don't fit very well into most trance without being cheese
alot of more "happy" vocals can be found on the commercial or euro-trrance scene. But beware that 98% of these songs can be a bit cheesy. The important concept to grasp is not if its happy or sad but which songs is truely unique and inspired by emotion and passion. Currently saddness is a common theme but dont be surprised if the other side of the emotional spectrum is shown.that said there are alot of goood "happy" vocal tunes out there , you just have to look. Unless your a dj expecting someone else to complie a cd for your likening ( i.e. happy cd or sad cd) is expecting alot. Listen to the follwoing if you want to be
:
Massive F - Somebody
Armin- Burning with Desire
303 dreams- dancing in the light
PVD- Thats Life
....theres alot more just dont feel like going through my record box
I think Oceanlab - Sky Falls Down is pretty happy...its practically the defenition of being madly in love...

Vocals in good EDM music are not sad. However, most of them are about the same subject. That subject is Love. You do, however, have people like Faithless who can write about anything. EDM, especially trance, is meant to be emotional when it comes to vocals. I like it like that though. If i wanna be hyper without relating to the lyrics, I just play a song that has no vocals.
Main subject in a vocal tune is usually love. It can be cruel sometimes, actually, most of the time. This is why a lot of people experience sadness (breakups, cheating, jealousy, missing someone), sometimes it's like a drug for people, they become attached to the sensation of love because it stimulates inner pain/pleasure. People are usually more emotionally stimulated to write about sad love stories than happy themes, it evokes powerful feelings in a listener, forcing him to remember that particular song and relate to it.
