Orbital@Huge Dance Festival in Spain
I dont post much anymore but being Orbital I figured some people would appreciate this thread somewhat...
Well I had never been to a European Massive before and this being the first DEFINITELY makes me want to go to more. This place was located close to Almeria in the South of Spain at this place where Western Films are produced from time to time. There were 6 areas or dance stages encompassing almost every genre minus Trance, LoL.
First I have to tell you that the view you got of the surrounding area was spectacular, imagine dancing to orbital under the moon with siloutted mountains at every turn, and the ocean off in the distance. To say the least it was one hell of an intense night.
When I got there I met a bunch of British, Irish, and Scottish people that quickly took me under there wing as I had gone alone due to the lack of friends left in Sevilla. Nice bunch that really party hard if you know what I mean. So we were parusing the areas mainly sticking to the House areas. Waiting for Orbital at 2am, which was AMAZING! Notables other than Orbital would have to be Misstress Barbara of course, and this duo Filia Brasilia Id never seen or heard of before but caught my attention, they were QUITE good.
So after meandering and getting righteously FOCKED out of my mind we went up to the mainstage for Orbital. It was fantastic seeing them with their little headset flashlight thingys, there big machine and moreover their enthusiasm. They played most of their big tunes as well as a couple I didnt recognize, guessing off of their new album. One track that caught my mind was this little jig they played starting off with the word Satan and proceeds to bash George W. Bush and the United States in a series of crazy special effects on the huge screens behind where they were playing. It was a bit of a trip especially when I realized we were 3 hours into July 4th (In Spain) marking the US Independence Day. Half of me was happy to see that little show, the other pretty embarrassed, regardless the whole show really blew my mind. Its a shame they are breaking up, hopefully they will keep producing albeit individually and who know what else.
The rest of the night was fantastic, after the high of seeing Orbital we went down to see The Hacker spin some pretty crazy Techno and Schranze. I actually recognized a few tracks from when I saw Chris Liebing last summer. Everyone was super into the set and made it for a good time. Then the night ended with a 3 hour set by Misstress Barbara 6am to 9am with the sunrise coming over the eastern mountain range. Quite spectacular, afterwards I proceeded to go home on a bus full of people that would probably jump me on any random night in Sevilla but ended up being quite friendly.
