Do These People Exist?

because there are many tracks that sound alike, I imagine that there would have to be at least one small group of people that know just about every song that exists in every genre. Would I be wrong here.

If not, my next question (the one that I was getting at) is:

If you were one of these people and some wannabe released a really unoriginal track would you let it go through or say

"no way, go and make something original!"

???

It depends whether it's just unoriginal (yet not a complete ripoff) or an actual ripoff. There are good tunes that sound like other tunes yet are unique.

I don't understand your question, if I was a person that knew every single track in every genre (which is impossible because there are tracks out there that I will never have access to, but if you were for say - autistic you could probably memorize the majority of tracks, if you had the time) and an unoriginal track came out and I knew it was unoriginal would I let it go through? wtf is that supposed to mean, do I have some kind of control over it? I would just say "that's an unoriginal piece of shit" there is nothing I can do about it.

My photographic memory helps me just spit out facts like water at times, everything I read, I retain (unless I don't want to :stongue. Seriously, no one can know everything about all genres, we do have some experts in certain areas on this board and when we come together, we make a decent answer. I myself, try to listen to a wide variety of genres to keep things unique.

everyone pretty much has a good point here
i likewise like to vary my attention to various sorts of genres...all unique and wikked in their own way. to be honest...if was was suddendly made a label manager or something of the sort, i'd 'let it go through' if i relish the track...although i not in the least mind something that sounds repetitive, yet good.

ummmm.......... ok..

for starters I never said one person that can memorize every track.

I said a small group of people so for example 20 people collectively would have heard many many tracks. I also never said that they have to memorize the artist's names.

so now that thats sorted, what I was getting at was, there should be people that check out new songs from upcoming artists to make sure they arent rip-offs
