using cdj's

when u burn your singles, do you burn ALL trance in 1 cd or do u mix prog and trance and all sorts of other things

my question is because if u burn only prog in one, and u want to do a prog mix, ull be limited to the number of songs.. so how do u guys do it?

how about, you make a CD with the tracks you want, then burn 2 copies so you can mix back and forth, but if these ain't payed for, then don't be spinning them in a club or anywhere for profit.

ya well im thinking of buying cdj's and no it wont be for profit, i am teh suckx0r! so all of u guys make doubles of ur cd's?

I don't have CDJs but why don't you burn all mixes of one song to each CD, whether it is trance or prog or anything. The chance you are going to want to mix from one mix of a song to another mix of that same song seems pretty slim. This way you are not making doubles of CDs but you will have lots of flexabilty as to which songs to mix. Of course I guess this would me you would have a lot a CDs, but at least they are smaller than vinyl

most people i know burn double cds. cds are so cheap now that it doesnt cost too much to burn an extra disk.

or you could just burn a set of the mixes of each song onto a disk so that its just that one song and its remixes.

That's what I was trying to say. This seems like the obvious way of doing things.

So if I steal something for my own personal use, it's ok, but if I steal something to make money off of it, it's not ok?

I guess you'd be ok with me stealing all your stuff as long as I kept it in my bedroom and never used it anywhere else.

So both you and prodigy would be ok with me stealing all of your posessions as long as I kept it all in my room?

The record industry likes to talk about music piracy being theft, but in fact it is violation of intellectual property, which is very different. If I steal one of your material possessions, I deprive you of the ability to use that possession. If I copy a track off a CD, that doesn't affect your ability to listen to the CD. Also, the record industry would like to think that every copy made or MP3 downloaded is a sale that's lost. I, for one, am a counter-example. I will download albums, listen to them, then decide that they are good and buy them, sometimes on both CD and vinyl. Alternatively, there are people who just wouldn't buy music regardless of whether they could download it or not. The prevalence of music piracy just shows that there is an enormous rift between the existing pricing model for music and what consumers are willing to pay for it, and the success of relatively novel music distribution schemes like iTunes shows that people are willing to pay for music if that rift is closed. Calling "music piracy" "theft" is the music industry's attempt to divert attention from their real problem, which is that their current pricing and distribution model is obsolete.
