How much would a one-bedroom condo with view of the lake run?

How much would a one-bedroom condo with view of the lake run? It seems like quite a few of them are being built right now alongside the Gardiner. And does anyone know which builders are selling those?

P.S. Are they still planning to expand the Gardiner, or take it underground? It's absolutely unusable from 4 to 6, and i can't even imagine how bad it'll get once all those new buildings are up!

If you have $60 000 to put down then find a real estate agent. Why is this being asked in a Trance forum?

Lakeview start about $190k.

d!abolic, ud be surprised @ what u could find for a reasonable price if u really look and ofcourse, if you are lucky. The LOFT condos, just a little further west on the gardiner are a good price for a good size...
My fiance and I were condo shopping earlier this year and were looking to get a condo overlooking the lake, but we opted for another one @ Islington & Queensway (We can still see the lake from there lol). Remember @ winter time it is VERY cold by the lake, it can smell in the summer...

Hehe, we WILL be neighbours actually... our condo isn't built yet, supposed to be finished by the end of 2005. We are gonna be right across the theatre there, beside the LCBO
It costs $218 and I have to get back to u on the square ft...not too big, but its on 2 of the top floors, def a good investment.

Ahh right, i know where that is! Two of the top floors... it's a two-storey condo? I'm a few blocks North-East.

why? why? why? honestly i dont understand why anyone would ever want to buy a condo. i mean why buy a condo when you can buy a house? a house sits on a piece of land that is always there and always increases in value. a condo is in a building that you dont own and there is no piece of land that belongs to you. all you own is about 700-900 square feet in a building.
go with a house. if the condo building burns down or a plane flies into it then you have nothing left, but if you have a house and the same thing happens at least you still have the land to do with as you please.

oh well i dont know much about real estate and all that crap but personally i would never buy a condo coz you are in a building with tons of other people and you never really have full privacy and full control over what you do and when you do it, and you have no land. land is an important thing to own IMO.

With regards to why someone would want to live in a condo...

I've lived in both the city and in the suburbs and I would give anything to be back in the city again.

Just like a house a condo increases in value, especially if it hasn't been built yet. In a condo you pay for convenience. Having a gym close by, track, pool, sauna, and lots of people around. Everything is a short walk away or at worst a quick ride on the ttc.

If you want land you can always buy a couple acres in the boonies for a couple thousand. Or live in Prince edward island and have a huge amount of land for real cheap, if you could actually tolerate living there.

Now let's say a fire blazes through the building or you wake up to see a 747 approaching your window. If you do survive, I'm sure insurance would cover it. Now let's say the same thing happened to your house with land....

In my city a jet crash happened awhile back in someones farm. Decades later they are still finding human bones and parts of the jet after the clean up. Not to be macabre, but I wouldn't want to live on that piece of land after that. I'm sure it also decreased the value of it quite a bit. A fire? Well, I guess you still have land with a bunch of rubble that needs to be cleaned up.

That seems about right to me. There is a condo sales person (brad lamb I think) located on Queens Quay W between bathurst and spadina. He has a wack load of them posted on the window of his office and they are in that range for a one bedroom.

You can't buy a house for $190K on the lakeshore. Condos are perfect starter investments for people who want to stop paying rent but can't yet afford a house.
