Thumbs up Paul Van Dyk-Featured in MIXER magazine:

For all the PVD fans:

Mixer magazine (based in NYC) has done a 2 page article on Paul Van Dyk's upcoming "remix" album entitled-The Politics of Dancing. In it, he describes reasons for not having a NYC gig on his upcoming US tour and also how much he is getting paid by Ministry of Sound for the 2X cd ($500,000!). HE also confirms his remix of Underworld's "Born Slippy" along with other remixes he has in store for the album. And for all the followers (including myself) who journeyed to see him bless the decks of Boston's Avalon, the article is centered around Paul's reaction and feelings leading up to the near cancelled event..definitely something to check out....peace.

I guess I'll have to order it or run to barnes n noble in charlotte :/

this really sucks

Why do tickets to PVD's club tour cost $30?? I'm traveling three hours to Houston and still have pay that ridiculous price!
He shouldn't be ripping off his true fans.
God knows he doesn't need the money, and don't give me that bullshit about "it's the CLUBS that set the price" cause he can easily tell them to charge no more than $20 or else he won't do the gig.
I get to see Tiesto in Dallas at a smaller club for $15...so there's no excuse.

Posted by DragonFlyJoneS on Sep-18-2001 20:33:

i'd pay 50 bucks to see pvd!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by arturob on Sep-18-2001 20:34:

well.
if Paul would have access to that then,
when he came in June to Space he would have overidden the Space minumum age to "18+".
I personally contacted the angency and paul and they thought it was 18 an over but Space Club law says no one under 21 can`t get in.

that sucks.

Paul is not responsable for club tickets covers,

greettings.

last time i saw pvd was in december of '99 in austin texas and the guy ahead of me in line paid $90 bucks to get in! hahahaha he gave ticket lady a $100 bill and only got a $10 back.. i think the lady taking up the money misread it and thought it was a 20$$ when it was really a $100 bill! haha i saw it all and didnt say a word =] but shooot, i'd say he still got his money's worth paying $90 bucks!

Are you ALSO going to see Tiesto Friday Oct 12 and then PVD the next day?

I wish PVD would do a massive here in Texas. I don't know why he's so scared of doing massives. I get to see Ferry Corsten at a massive a week before, there's going to be over 20,000 people there...it'll be fun as hell! And then I get to see Armin Van Buuren Nov 3 do a three hour set at a massive. I also get to pick him up from the airport.

Posted by chewd0g on Sep-18-2001 21:03:

Why would it matter if he does a "massive"?

massives are no where near as good as small club type atmospheres.

At events that I have seen (and been there too) pvd do there was this amazing energy flowing through the crowd, when you have large crowds you have an excess of people who are worrying about something else, with small crowds everybody is there concentrating on the music, because that's what they came for, to see paul van dyk.

so far I have paid 37 (cause of ticket master), 23 and now 26 to see pvd. I feel this amount was well worth it and would pay it again.

I'm driving up to DC in November for Radiate put on by Ultraworld. I'm paying 35 dollars and two nights stay @ a hotel that I'm splitting with 3 friends for 75 dollars each. Pvd is the headliner for the party and it's definitely going to be worth it.

Vivek, visionsofpvd, raven, twilonyc, djgarfield and all TA's I just returned from a week-long journey in IBIZA and will be posting pics of Sasha, Diggers, Howells, Cox, Oakey and PVD very soon. Just got them developed and some are amazing and some amazingly funny. Coming soon.........

BTW, twilonyc did i meet you in ibiza? i was wearing a blue TWILO baseball jersy and was there sept1-8. drop me a line

Posted by djSlain on Sep-18-2001 21:55:

If barney the dinosaur can do a birthday party...
if Ronald McDonald can do a birthday party...
If N'Sync, LA Laker Cheerleaders, Jennifer Love Hewitt can all do birthday parties, why can't Paul Van Dyk make a surprise gig @ my birthday? 18+ sucks. "but Mr Bouncer, here is my permission slips from my mom" just won't work for me

Posted by DragonFlyJoneS on Sep-18-2001 23:10:

i wanna see tiesto at red jacet the night before pvd.. but maan, that's gonna be too much clubbin for me in one weekend! i saw him at the zen festival already and he kicked ass!

Posted by TwiloNYC on Sep-19-2001 04:10:

Push: I saw someone @ Space on Sunday (9/2) with a blue Twilo shirt and I asked him if he was from NY.... he was like "nope". I dunno what he's doing wearing a Twilo shirt...poser. We danced on the left stage of the DJ booth in the main room for a little while. I'm a pretty big asian guy (6'1"/~200lbs) and I was with 4 others (asian also..2 guys & 2 girls. We were like the only Asians in Eivissa!) in case you've seen us. I also met a few guys @ Godskitchen from NYC but I was way too messed up to remember who and what they were wearing...just that they were from NY LOL! But for the most part, as far as I can remember, I just met a load of Brits, Irish, Aussies, Italians and Germans. I gotta hand it to these europeans, they know how to party...my god!

Ok so tomorrow I'm going to run by books-a-million tomorrow in hope that they will have the new mixer out...btw for those who read the info on pvd's upcoming release on MoS here's some more information:

quote:
Paul van Dyk will be donating 50% of his profits of his upcoming Ministry of Sound mix CD "Politics of Dancing" to the American Red Cross & the NYC Police & Fire Widows & Childrens Benefit Fund. He is asking that you add on $1 to the door price to send to the charities below. Paul has asked every promoter on the tour to do the same.

Satellite has agreed to donate their service charge and i'm still waiting to confirm this with Rewind records. We are in the process of getting ahold of the out of town stores regarding this as well.

Producer Artist Management is also donating a portion of our commissions for all bookings.

On top of that Liquified will also be donating a portion of the profits from the show.

The actual cost of tickets on the door will now be $26.

Thank you for your cooperation.
