Cymbal Roll Synth
I would like a nice cymbal-roll to use in the buildup a measure before the main part of the song. Would a synthesized cymbal roll be the way to go there, or should I use a sample? Basically I want it so it keeps getting louder until I release the note and then quickly fade down.
Since I don't have a sample, I'd like to try the synth route -- unless it really sucks. Problem is that I'm having a hard time trying to program the synth to give the desired result. So far, I've tried simsynth (demo) and superwavep8 but to no avail. Can someone help me there?
Thanks.
you could get the sort'a effect your after from noise.. any synth with noise turned on.. a long attack and a short release.. alot of eqing.. and some good reverb to add character and life
thats how i would start to get somewhere with it.. good luck
Why don't you just use a sampler to make your own percussion builds. You will get so much more control out of it. Besides, doing a drum roll isn't that hard in a piano/key editor. Either link velocity to volume and have the velocity increase over time so it gets louder, or have the volume steady and then use the volume automation in the sequencer to make it build.
That's what I would do at least.
use the 3xosc... you'll probably have a much easier time... look for one of the presets in the folder, add some EQing and FX and you'll have yourself a nice sounding synthesized cymbal in no time...
