I hear ya on the poor turnout at Shelter. That was pretty unfortunate considering how well known those artists are. Doing sucessful parties arent easy these days...

I believe 2 of the main reasons why I think that event didnt pack out is 1, Alot of people for some reason dislike that venue (I personally like it) and 2, I know many key people that didnt even know that event was even happening.

This proposed event would be at one of the major NY venues.

i dont know.. i still dont think NYC has enuff serious trancer to sell out a matt darey show.. you cant deny what hes done for the trance scene and his talent is like no other but realistically, im not sure about that it will be a successful turnout.. it really has to be the top 4[pvd, ferry, armin & tiesto] to have a great turnout.. even on ferry and armin roxy nights, it wasnt 'packed' only trance parties that gets really packed is pvd & tiesto.. it really sucks cuz if the party isnt successful, the artist wont want to return to NYC..yet we need fresh trance talent to keep coming/playing in NYC to test the masses and let them get used to it.. NY just arent used to trance besides the infamous pvd @ twilo nights which started it all.

I would come see you guys, yea at a big venue would be clutch for a big turnout

I like Matt Dareys productions although I havent heard anything recent from him. I have yet to hear you spin as well so I would probably be game for this

Posted by AY STAR on Jul-17-2004 20:22:

i would deff go i was excited when i though he was supposed to be at spirit last week
as for the rest of nyc i dunno the trance scene is ok i mean it gets packed to pvd, tiesto armin ferry
but for not sooo famous guys its a toss up
but for people who know trance they would know who matt darey is and would come out

i think if it's organized right it can be a great party. I'd imagine that part of the reason for the low turnout @ shelter was poor promotion -- time out ny had the event listed for a different day; i don't think the village voice mentioned it all.

if the word is out and the music is good they will come

Posted by DJslantzz on Jul-18-2004 17:48:

You, Darey....and maybe Nu NRG???

Then u got urself a lineup.

Posted by DeRangedMind on Jul-19-2004 04:57:

Thumbs up

Damn I would go if I lived in NY or somewhat close. Matt Darey hasn't been around D.C. since 2002. Its been a longtime and his recent stuff has been really good also. Like some of you said if its promoted right then a decent amount of people will go and you gotta be sure to pick thr right venue. As for The Avalon that should be good enought. I would say Crobar but after The James Zabiela review hmmmm doesn't seem like a good place to put him. Well anyways I suggest you TA up North try to make it.

How bout ciacomix always wanted to see him dj. NuNRG might be good. Matt Darey & Marcella Woods X_X

Posted by Sunshine79 on Jul-20-2004 13:26:

after talking to my friends & crew, we decided that everyone would definitely make it a point to see Victor Dinaire spin, but no one would go out of their way for Darey. No one really seems to know or care about Darey much (no offense) and lately there are so many different things going on every night. It's tough choices.

[please note that by "no one" I mean the group of people who are not as devoted to music as TAs and our friends]

I wanna see Seb Fontaine again, all of a sudden. Seb, Pete Tong and vic Dinaire. Don't ask why..it just came to mind.

oh wait..how about SANDER, Danny Howells and vic?

pvd and vic?

tiesto vs. dinaire force 1?

seriously...Matt Darey won't pull my crowd, I don't know about the rest of you

Nu NRG would be another night

actually, i might be ready to post about that as soon as tonight!

I heard this kid Bobby Bolker recently, and I think he'd be the perfect opener for Vic Dinaire.

Thats quite possible. I'm sure you have been in his prescence when he drank one too many.

Cell phone is still out of commission...should be back up by the end of the week.
Even though I'm kinda enjoying life without a GPS in my pocket.
