Hardstyle in Florida?

Hey guys,

I just moved from Amsterdam/Holland, to Miami in Florida. I'm going to work in Miami for a year, but i don't want to give up DJ'ing!
I notice that R&B and rap are the main scene in miami
I'm a hardstyle DJ, are there any clubs in Florida that are spinning hardstyle? Or any DJ's in Miami who spin hardstyle?
If you don't know what hardstyle is, i can post an example. But i don't know if it's allowed on this forum.

Thnx

That would be Orlando, but not Miami.

Really?
The only club i know which spins trance and other stuff is space.
Are there any others?

No, that tripacious shitty 'music' is pretty much the scene here as well. 'Music...' More like 'worthless fuckin' shit.' That's what you hear people blaring in their car stereos. When I hear that shit, I crank up what WE listen to and add a little bass, just to fuck with their rap crap and shitty r&b.

As for hardstyle, if you mean DJ Luna or Marcel Woods, now THAT'S a genre I wouldn't mind exploring. Marcel impressed me a bit at Trance Energy 2004, I enjoyed listening to his set online.

Yeah, DJ Luna style That's hardstyle.
I'm willing to introduce it in this area.

Is Florida ready for some hardstyle?

I just saw your thread in the Music Discussion forum.

So...how hard are we talking here? Bring it on!

Posted by guimaraes on Jul-18-2004 02:46:

Watch me!
I need to find some clubs first who are willing to experiment with this "new" style.

BRING IT!

TECHNO/TRANCE/HOUSE*

hmmmm miami isnt really ready for hardstyle.... het heeft niet echt genoeg melodie voor de mensen hier.... ze kennen het eigenlijk nog niet echt.... vaag publiek hier hoor

your best bet is to check out this great lil club called priviledge. It's on 6th and washington i believe... they play techno on saturday nites and u can probably introduce some hardstyle in that place. you should ask djdekan for more info. on it

Posted by guimaraes on Jul-18-2004 19:37:

@ Ambs, de wat oudere hardstyle heeft wel redelijk wat melodie. Nieuwe hardstyle is denk ik iets te hard voor ze. Maarja het valt te proberen toch? Zou wel leuk zijn als het aanslaat.

@ poyson IV, thanks for the tip! is he only a techno DJ?

Posted by anycrew on Jul-19-2004 03:52:

Hardstyle kinda reminds me of Chicago hard house. like mixin marc and dj Irine on even more crack.

Bring it along with your Orange bitters and pickled herring.

I doubt Florida is ready for hardstyle. Go look at all the posts from whenever PvD plays anything remotely hard.... nothing but complaints.

Good luck though.. the scene needs it. This year may be very big for hard dance. Sensation Black was much more interesting than White, Organ Donors put out a great album, DJ Luna seems to be maturing.... I doubt the scene will ever catch on in the states though.

Miami is mainly house/prog. with the occasional trance blessing from PVD/Armin/Tisto...etc.
But hardstyle...hmmm not likely.

Posted by guimaraes on Jul-19-2004 15:21:

Holland was mainly trance and house too. Hardcore was as good as dead. And then suddenly this "new" style came out, and most of the people loved it. Now it's like, every club you go, you will hear hardstyle.

How so? Just because the beats are made electronically? It does not mean it's under EDM...don't ever classify garbage with Electronica please.
