Video Codecs

Been trying to watch some videos in mediaplayer, alot of them are searching for a codec when i try to play, dont find it but then play anyway. however the sound/pic sync strays off and is obviously annoying. does anyone know where i can get some of the latest up to date codecs to try and combat this?!

you dont need codecs' just download this media player and it does all the hard work for you - http://www.videolan.org/

the sound and pic straying is usualy coz some muppet cant rip films properly. you can fix it but you need a programme and i cant remember what it is......sorry
