eMagic Logic Platnium - How to extend recording time?

Hey, i can't figure out how to extend the audio recording time in Logic to be longer than 5 minutes.

will someone help me out please?

not many ppl here use logic accord to a poll that was posted a while back.. so you may have a hard time getting help..

but have you tried using an external wave editor to record? that way you can limit/normalize the wave as well..

Don't be so pessimistic lol.

In your transport bar, click, and keep pressing the record button until a menu pops up. There choose "Set Record Path" or something pretty similar.

In that window you'll be able to set the maximum recording time (or disable that feature alltogether).

YOU SAID NORMALIZE!!!....NEVER NORMALIZE!!!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! DON'T EVER NORMALIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw: the reason why few ppl use logic here is b/c of A. the price and B. the learning curve.

if it makes ya feel any better, as soon as I can afford it, I'm getting a dual G5 Mac with Logic Pro.

i dont see what is so bad about it.. it doesn't chagne the waveform at all.. it just makes it as loud as it can go without compressing

Because in the digital domain, you get nothing for free.

Even a simple calculation like gain or normalizing (which is nothing other than applying an amount of gain) will make you lose a tiny bit of info (I have explained this in another topic long ago, so I'm not starting again here, if you want me to recapitulate, PM). So if you can avoid any unnecessary steps, avoid them. If that particular sound needs to be mixed in louder, just push the fader up more (instead of normalizing it and still needing to move the fader a bit). If you can't reach the wanted level, maybe compress, and use the gain there. If it's really too low, you recorded it badly. Point.

And the third reason why not much people are using Logic is because it's Mac only now. There are still older versions for PC, but they will not be updated anymore (and frankly I dunno if they are still supported by Emagic either). For some people, that counts also.
The price isn't that much of a concern anymore, as the new Logic 6 Pro has most of the plugins you had to buy separately before are bundled with Logic now, for a less than the price the full blown Platinum costed before.

don't forget to mention that logic is very hard to learn, well hard? maybe takes alot of time and manual reading.

strange you missed that in the manual

press a, set your recording time
if you set no limit, it will be 60 minutes, however you can extend that with some tricks, like setting tempo at 60 bpm

n/o but if you do warez then you make a fool of yourself asking the most obvious questions
