this is how Sasha discovered James Zabiela....through a contest just like this, I believe. :!

I thought Zabiela won Radio One's bedroom DJ contest.

I think it was DJ Mag in like 2000 then he won the Muzik Awards one a year later, his main set that really got him out is when he DJed before Sasha came on at Space in Ibiza, and after destroying the dancefloor, Sasha took him on.

Not to worry - the rules clearly say that if your main source of income is as a DJ you are not qualified to enter. Go get 'em!!!

OH! LOL Well that's no attitude to have!!! Why couldn't any one of you be the next Zabiela??? If you don't enter, you DEFINITELY won't win!

yeh you should enter, you don't loose anything in trying and it's always a challenge to create a good mix etc. So what's the problem? good luck to those who try their luck!

Stupid age limitation. 21+!!!!!!!!

Posted by jwear2004 on Jul-20-2004 20:24:

Digweed already discovered Jonathan Lisle so it's not like he's looking for a new DJ protege. I think it's more just to keep the new talent flowing.

I still feel like submitting a mix, and if I may happen to win, I'll be like: "Im still underage bitches!!" lol

I wonder what could happen in a situation like that. They should still give you the gear, etc...

yeah the whole 21+ thing is getting out of hand. wtf do you have to be 21 and over to win a dj contest i mean serously?

just a brush up on american federal law... you don't have to be 21 to play at 21 plus clubs. i've played in 5-6 diff. states and i've never had a problem. i'm not sure why there is a rule for 21 & up

I am pretty sure you are right that you can be underage in a club if you are preforming (I know that is true for bands anyway, probobly true for DJs as well).

My only thought is that this rule is to thine the entries a bit. In all honesty this will probobly cut down on the lame 15 year olds how just got tables for christmas and think they rule.

(Of course I realize there are probobly some really good underage DJs out there but still...)
