-- I'm getting my decks tomorrow.
I'm getting my decks tomorrow.
That's right, my decks should be deleivered tomorrow...
...now i have a small problem.
I have spent almost all of my money on my decks and i dont get paid for another month. However, I have enough money for about 6 vinyls to practice with. The genre's I want to specialise in is mainly trance (some hard house). Now I need you opinion on some of the tracks i should buy.
I am concidering, in no particular order, the following:
Yves de Ruyter - Back to earth
Barthezz - on the move
Members of mayday - 10 in 01
JFK - good god
Ratty - Sunrise
Cosmic Gate - Fire wire
Voodoo & Serano - Blood is pumpin'
Norman Bass - How U Like Bass (Warp Brothers Mix)
Mauro Picotto - Komodo
lock n load - house some more (if i can get hold of it)
ESP - Traveller
Mario Piu - the vision
911 - the 4 commitments
DJ Balloon - Pussy Lovers (but i doubt i can get that now)
Scot project - future is now
System F - Exhale
Da Hool - Meet Her Love Parade
.. so do you have any other suggestions i should consider, taking in to account my taste... any suggestions will be much appreciated
Whazzup...

All those songs you listed are good. In fact I have a few of 'em. Since I merged my collection with a friend's I have a lot of extra vinyl I don't need including Voodoo & Serrano - Blood is Pumping and Members of Mayday - 10 in 01.
They're almost all 2001 releases and in mint condition. I'm willing to sell 'em cheap depending on how many you want. PM if you're interested..
Any information on what kind of turntables and mixer u have? Just curious...
here's my advice...try to go for tracks that are unknown to most people (sooo not like barthezz or members of mayday), becuz you can spin unknown tracks 2 years from now, the ones that are well-known ya can't play 6 months from now (well, ya can, but they'll be old)

I find a lot of good underground stuff @ my local recordstore
Just listen to everything! Its a lot easier to find unknown tracks that are of the progressive or hardhouse style though; just simply because any of the epic/uplifting trance that is halfway decent gets pounded down by the big dogs while they are still in promo stage.

buy the records you want.
when I first got my decks the guy I bought them from said "when you start buying vinyl buy songs that you love, ones you'll want to listen to over and over again and still love them"
I mean chances are you aren't going to be the next tiesto or pvd (not bashing i probably will never even spin in a club) but you might as well enjoy the tracks you love and if they include some unknown tracks then that's great too

Personally, I would never waste a penny on Norman Bass, Lock N Load or Ratty however I would reccomend a lot of the other tracks!

Ratty - Sunrise
Just don't like it.
Respects on getting the decks, my suggestion is to do what I do:
a) Find a record store which carries a decent selection, shop there on a regular basis, become friends with the people who work there and they will give you stuff either before it gets put out or will give you info on things that are coming.
b) Shop online. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 18 and just picked up my credit card application today. I'm only using it to pay the cell phone bill and purchase online. Not only will I Get new tracks at cheaper prices, it helps me build a credit rating too
.
There are alot of decent places to buy, trust me.
c) Go to EVERY record store in your city maybe once a month. Spend a whole day just digging through all the crates...you never know what kind of jems you will find!!! I dug up an old copy of future breeze - smile (with the van bellen mix) and I found SPX - straight to the point as well. The tracks were old but I spent 2 hours looking. I even snagged the "Troy" white label with the sinead o'connor vocals. Every store has its own gems.
Also, my recommendation is to find and play the trakcs you like, but make sure there is enough of a market for them. Your suggesting some decent trance and commercial harder house tracks.
A few of those tracks are old or crap (in my opinion) but there are some decent ones. go with your instincts, but be able to blend! Don't try mixing exhale in norman bass or something, lol.
Anyways mate thats just my opinion, don't feel insulted or anything, thats probably the type of music thats big in your area.
Hope my advice helped!
Peace!

Ok.. the vocals might be stolen (I didn't know that..) and it truly IS commercial, BUT you can't say it's CHEAP!
It sounds great, even with stolen vocals, even if it's commercial. It's a bit overplayed, indeed, so I'd wait some months until I'd play it again rarely.
