Melbourne's trance nights

What are the best nights in Melbourne for trance and at what venues?

thanks

the only week-in, week-out trance night in melbourne that i can think of...is volume @ room680 on saturdays.

if you're into harder stuff, then you have more choices, i.e. hard kandy, bass station, SOS, 3D every friday. SOS, bubble, majik & krankin on saturdays.

bar altitude also has some trance nights, but check their site as each week is different.

and trance in volume only start from 3am onwards ....

(if Mark James decided to play his usual prog trance set, that is)

ummmmmm 5am's are great! We just had an awesome party at ROOM680 with guest GTR. Went off!

Then again I am a little biased

Posted by 00soups00 on Jul-21-2004 04:28:

im not as biased as Sezzy

but 5am parties are the law!!!!

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Jul-21-2004 04:39:

well, ive only been to the one volume @ Room; but 5AM's gigs are infinitely better. i think they have events (is it fortnightly guys?) at Bar Altitude, which is on russell street in the city from memory.

if you ever have a choice between volume n 5AM, *always* go with the latter. but maybe im just too picky

Posted by sezzy on Jul-21-2004 05:20:

We have our montly events at altitude and our bigger events are held
every few months with special international guests

end promo ho rant

Posted by G`Dave on Jul-21-2004 08:53:

Lol.. the shameless promotion burns like fire.

last time i checked, all the 5am dj's played trance.

last time i double checked, most of the volume dj's do not play trance.

his question was about melbourne's trance nights.

the answer to his question is 5am. bias or not

"last time i double checked, most of the volume dj's do not play trance."

amen to that!

Smile Tongue

this is the second thread that throws a volume Vs 5am post whore plantation...

go because u want to...

Posted by Aesthetic on Jul-26-2004 04:34:

dude, we're talking about which place plays more trance and if you didn't say 5am you'd be a bit of a mongoloid.

that said volume also offers some of the most kick ass artists around, and guys i grew up listening to like mark james, luke chable, ivan gough..etc etc

the fact remains that it is asking about melbourne's trance nights.. volume barely fits into this category! no offence.. sheesh

5AM/Trancend - is a full trance night, its aim is to push the genre and give new talent a go that caters for the trance lovers of Melbourne.

Volume - is a club night with a difference, caters for all music lovers, anything from house, prog, breaks and trance toward the end of the night. Some of the other djs like Chab, and Mark James do play abit of progressive trance in there sets.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jul-26-2004 06:39:

dude, chab is playing at volume?

Posted by SteveStrangis on Jul-26-2004 06:41:

sorry my bad! ment to say luke chable

Posted by Anomyst on Jul-26-2004 07:08:

no pun intended at all, dont get me wrong i completly understand the discussions... its just funny that whenever someone mentions 5AM or volume they both appear.. just trying to avoid a "Which is the better night" topic, sheesh

agreeed. I've had the pleasure of heading down there a few times myself....although, the guys toilets can get a little scary with guys walking into the cubicles two at a time

Volume and 5AM are two uniquely diverse nights that shouldn't and really can't be compared. Volume is starting to become a Saturday night institution by the looks of things.
