The Ultimate Beginning Equipment
Im looking for a nice equipment basicly for practice
2 cd players and a mixer
My budget is between 2000-4000 NIS ( 500$-900$ )
I saw so many threads about the behringer and its bad performance
now im not looking for the top gear , im looking for a nice starting equipment that can offer me the basic things (not all the effects and..)
so , should i buy a behringer mixer that can offer me what im looking for in a reasonable price or its just dont worth it?
please tell me what do u think
And about the CD players , what do you think i should buy?
2 cds and a mixer... I'd have to say 2 new or used CDJ-100s (since they work great, although the jog-wheel can loose some response, as it happened to one of mines) and a Behringer (yes) VMX-300. At least I started with that setup, 2 years ago, and don't look back. Great mixer for its price, had no problem whatsoever and I mix nearly everyday. I still don't understand what all this hate towards Behringer is about, but at least my product works great
but maybe you'd like to try some other mixers first, though I doubt that you'll find anything in the low budget range as good as this. Go for the CDJ-100s, they are great cd players, cheap, and the effects are cool to mess around since you'll have a mixer with no fx.
The title of this thread sounds like an oxymoron to me.
If you look on ebay you can find more solid mixers than behringer for the same price, IMHO.
a Vestax PCV 275 with 2 pioneer CDJ 100's will be what you are looking for....

Agree, buying a behringer is like playing russian roulette. You may get a nice one that works or you may get something that will blow up on you.
I would look at either a pair of numark axis9's (really it's a good cd deck trust me i own and use mine all the time) and a ecler concept 2 or 3 mixer, or a pair of cdj-100s and a pcv-275.
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have my PCV-275 for sale.

Why shuld he buy a 3 ch mixer if he's gonna use only 2 cd players.
What about tascam xs-3. (aprox. 150$)
to be perfectly honest, the cdj100 is way too over-priced. you can get more useful cd decks for cheaper. have a look at the numark axis9, here it is about 30 cheaper and it has loads more cool and useful features. for example, the axis 9 has scratching (4 types of), scratch start as opposed to stutter start, 2 seamless loops, hot cueing (dont know if the cdj100 has that) 12 effects inc echo, chop, pan, flange, SLEEP!!! (not many cd decks have this function, its a reverse function, but jumps the tune back to where it would have been had you not pressed it), phaze + more... start/stop speed adjustment (as in like a brake adjustment on a deck, it slows the tune down slower or faster), touch sensetive jog-wheel.
at the end of the day, the cdj100 will probably last longer, but other than that IMO the axis9 is just better value for money for a low-end cd deck.

about the numark axis 9 , the price difference is not a big deal
the question is , does it worth it?
i mean all the extra things that tu face mentioned is a big diffrence?
and about the quality , is it good as pioneers?
