Mazi, Tripwire, and Holden...the aftermath.

Ahoy mateys!

I had a great time. There was no grumpy Mr S in effect at all last night, of course, I drank a LOT as many of my pictures show lol.

I am going to put them up once I size them down a bit (4 megapixel images are HUGE lol)

As for the vibe....it was awesome. Mazi and Tripwire tore it up and Holden was again phenomenal.

Here is a vid I took (with actually not too bad sound) while Holden was on the decks.

Movie of Vision (3 MB)

I will post up my pics once I get them resized.

Definitely one of the best nights at Vision this year - Mazi and Jay did an awesome job tag-teaming and kept me moving. The dancefloor was packed, but plenty of room to dance, which was nice - I'm tired of the big ass shows where you can't find room to dance so it was nice not have to push and shove on the dancefloor or by the dj booth

What can you say about Holden? He threw down another great set - he continues to impress me and I think his reputation is just going to continue to grow. Can't wait for him to come back to Chicago.

Only complaint of the night - at the end of the night it seems that the lights came on and stayed on for about 1/2 hour!!!

Glad to hear you both enjoyed it. I figured this would be tech-house and techno at it's finest. For all who are going to the BBQ, have a great time.

Any idea if he played his remix of Britney - Breathe on Me?

Yes he did. Thanks to Myra for the id on it though. Funny thing about that song is that I was looking through my wmc vids the other day and had one from S&D and they were playing that song. I was like shit I need to get that id'ed. And sure enough James played it. Was pretty ironic, dont ya think?

But the night couldnt have been better. I figured on paying $10 to get in after getting on the relode list, but I had to pay nothing when I got to the register. Cant beat that anyday.

Everyone threw down great sets. Overall I was more into James' set, but Jay and Mazi were wicked up there. We missed you up there Bobby. But it was nice to see so many familar faces, from TA and it was a bit of a Miami reunion with some other friends too.

Mazi and Jay were playing a few tracks that were on Burridge's Kiss 100 set from last weekend. They played a track w/ vocals 'I need a freak, a superfreak' and that Red Dress song that Aaron was talking about to me. And Spektrum - Kinda New (tiefschwarz dub) was right before Holden. Thats the one you needed JM. James also played A Break in the Clouds (Beats Tool mix), Petter - All Together, and Nathan Fake - Outhouse.

I've got several vids and pics I'll post up shortly.

yep it was KILLER to hear that song live in the club.

i had an awesome night. good crowd and awesome music. Holden's set was fabulous and it just kept getting better towards the end. i need to find out the two tracks he played for his encore, 'cause both of those were just awesome.

i got to meet Holden before his set (ran into him up on the 3rd floor) and got a picture and had him sign the cover of the Balance 005 CD.

it was nice to see some of you TA's out as well. i'm anxious to hear some reviews of the bbq today, for those of you who went (or are going).

more pics here

and i've got a cool video but no where to upload it to (during the Beats Tool Remix when the bass drops in, omfg)

yes - have to agree that it was a great crowd and great tunes - holden's set just flowed and kept getting darker and darker. he was so into his music and set - very professional guy. the crowd was just the right size - and i heard that the promoters were very happy with the turn-out, so expect to see holden and tripwire back in town.

holden is definitely becoming one of my fav dj's

Tom - thanks for id'ing the last track before holden - loved it!

yeah, GREAT night! nice to see everyone out again. i did the $10 deal since i didn't want to have to rush to beat the midnight deadline, but now i'm kicking myself since mazi and tripwire tore it up for the 1 hour i did hear them. that spektrum track you're all talking about...is that the one sasha's been dropping a lot lately?
loved how there was room to dance and walk around. still working on getting the pix and clips online from vision, pvd, smartbar, summerdance, and RRR BBQ.

Posted by KID-M on Jul-26-2004 15:32:

I am still in awe of James' last 45 minutes (nearly all w/ the lights on)...unreal.

That Spektrum track is one of my favorites of the year

Edit: Just listened to that Britney spears remix on Holden's site...wow, gave me the chills!

Did anyone else think they had the treble turned way too high at Vision?

i wonder why they felt that we needed the lights on the last 45 minutes of his set - i hate it when the lights go on at the end of the night

Posted by UWM on Jul-26-2004 20:37:

I can't believe they left them on for so long, that's crap!

i don't know, but the music seemed WAY louder than usual. last couple times i've been there, it's been no problem having a conversation (and i'm usually always in the same spot, 2nd floor), but last Saturday night it was so impossible to hear anything... my voice was strained from trying to yell in people's ears, and my ears hurt pretty bad when i left too.

it's always worth it tho!

the only good thing about the lights being on for so long, is that it made for some good people-watching from the 2nd floor. i won't get into details but i laughed quite a bit.

hehe...it was like a free showing of "girl gone wild" and "man in black". i got some pretty funny clips of both.

so true! that one guy up front dancing his ass off was hilarious!!! but, i shouldn't make fun of people dancing, cuz i'm not the most graceful one on the dancefloor either - but this guy was totally out of it.

great seeing you again lucid!

sometime we'll have to meet for pre-drinks before vision so that we can actually have a conversation without yelling at each other - and that picture of you and holden is mint!

Posted by neural defect on Jul-26-2004 21:06:

I left about an hour before close. Did Holden stick around afterwards?

definitely! my voice was sooo strained at the end of the night, and i couldn't even hear my words when i was speaking to people. are you going to Zabiela next week? i'm gonna try to make that since there aren't many Vision events coming up that i'm interested in (besides M.I.K.E. but my mom is going to be in town that weekend).

and yah, i love that picture. he was such a friendly guy!

btw, the best dancer was the asian guy w/ the yellow shirt.

I have the primo clip my friend......is over a min long and is with the lights on. (will post later lol)

I also have some great pics......lots of drunken people.....the pic of lucid and princess is pretty funny lol.

Then the one that takes the cake is, of course, this one:

I'm not sure about Zabiela - I'm going to try and take a break from clubbing, because I have to take an exam in Sept and I have to start studying for it. But, I'll keep ya posted - my friends may have to twist my arm to come out b/c I haven't seen Zabiela since WMC 2004 when he opened for Sasha and Digweed.

thank gawd - NO!!!

Posted by tymeblind on Jul-27-2004 16:36:

Lights were on for awhile before hand becasue it is difficult to get people out at the right time for the staff of the club. Last week's Johan show ran too far over for their liking...

The bachellorette thing is something done every saturday in the main room before it opens to the public so therre are always straglers around....

glad you all enjoyed the show...
