Nightclub reminisce and appreciate thread

Filter14 is closed. I was out of town and couldn't make it to the closing party.

Arc is closed. Rest in peace...

Centro-Fly is closed. I loved Centro-Fly! They had a killer sound system. It was the closest thing to Boa/Stereo here.

Twilo... I never went. Stuff of legends I hear

I have many dear Filter, Arc, and Centro memories. I am wondering what is new and happening in the scene. Any fun places or interesting commentary? Here's some of my thoughts:

Table50 - Neat little bar/club and they had some awesome breaks come through. I haven't heard about events there for a while though.

Cielo - I almost went only to be turned away at the door because of dress code Heard good things about the space though.

Roxy - I wish they would invest in having more bathrooms and a truly killer sound and light system. Looking forward to hearing about upcoming line-ups there.

Crobar - Probably the best big room club in NYC.

APT - Heard about this place but haven't gone yet.

SEHO - Have to come to the next event

Any place else worth checking out? Peace guys

really.... ummm i thought Centro Fly was just being renovated. i mean i kno they had the funeral party w. fatboy slim durin da winter but i thought it was gonna b reopened

I like Roxy but yeah, you are right about the bathroom situation... the lines for the girls bathroom is insane plus theres only like 6 urinals for us guys.

Isn't Arc being relocated?

i wouldnt kno i held it in because i was up front for PvD and i was having the time of my life jumpin around like a monkey wow was that an insane nite!!!

i was in the back drunk off my ass trying to find my brother the whole night, but it was fun nonetheless

OMG u have no idea how amazing that nite was for me. tears of joy were comin down my face when he dropped some tracks. it was just mindblowing.

RUBY FALLS!!!!! They play mostly hip-hop but drop some techno..been only open for 2 months...but it is probably the sickest club right now in manhattan

LUNATARIUM!!!!!!!!!! club in brooklyn. its an abandoned warehouse but its sick. ive even seen midget flamethrowers!!! top that

I remember Twilo, damn that feels like ages. At least the Roxy still stands, but as I have been hearing, if Bloomberg's new nightlife policies go into effect, NYC nightlife might take a nose dive completely. One thing I definately dont want to do, as a TA, would be to sit on these forums and talk about how good the clubs USED to be.

Yes. Totally agree! I want to hear about the new crop of cool places coming up. I have yet to go to Discoteque. I forgot about Sullivan Room!

yeah 02-27-04 was def a memorable nite for me at roxy... ill always like roxy...jus wish they were bringing in DJs tho...for now my fav place is CROBAR! looks like Spirit is gonna b da "next" EXIT (aka KTU parties, Draper spining there soon and JP becoming a resident. what a shame...) Also how many ppl (like myself) is counting the days till IKON changes mgmt and/or shuts down. ahhaha

even though most people i know hated it, i really liked Tunnel. i always had a good time there.

twilo... nothing i can say that hasnt been said. a place full of memories.

limelight... was totally my favorite ny club, and i hate what they've done to the place. plus if they keep packing 10 bazillion people in there its not even worth going if you are planning on dancing.

space (Philly)... where 2 of the best years of me and skytrancegirl's life were spent! *sniff* i miss it

roxy... agree again about the girl's bathrooms.

space (miami) ... love the horn!

amnesia... a local club where me and my friends went since high school, and which they have now turned into a car dealership. so sad

oh yeah... and Zodiac in york!

I'm waiting for a good event to go to at Discoteque Words cannot describe how disappointed I am with Spirit.... Maybe we can go hijack a swank club like Ruby Falls, NV, or Lotus and pack it for a night I heard that the Canal Room has a great stereo too from folks who went to see Sasha.

On a separate note, I was reading a bit of NYC club history and I was blown away by pictures of the old Palladium and stories of the soundsystem at Paradise Garage.

My one wish for NYC nightlife is that some club gets a truly audiophile grade system and packs the place every weekend with a cool crowd and insane music

mann i came into this scene having missed out on those legendary places...esp. Twilo n Tunnel...but oh man avikonen mentioned Palladium...and goddayams that was RIGHT during MY time...that club was DA SHIET in my dayy...*memories* omgomg that was where i went during my hs days...shiet...

wells at least Space at Miami is still around...hopefully i get to experience that next year at WMC if not sooner...

Now: My favorite seems to be Crobar...nice system...and some nice little corners to just relax in w/o losing sound quality.

Go to Table50 on Wednesday for ROBOTS!!!!!!! All the Electro, Minimal House and Techno, with a sprinkling of Breaks you could evuh desire!

this might be kinda a late post, but ps1 is basically a contemporary museum affiliated with moma and they throw parties every saturday for the whole summer for fundraising. the last party for ps1 is this week. i'm working at the first bar, so if any ta's want free beer or something, come say hi. www.ps1.org
