-- an evolution of the mind..?

an evolution of the mind..?

i've been listening to dance music for close to 6 years now. in that time, ive witnessed several evolutions in electronic dance music, and have seen a few subgenres of music come to existance. over the last few months, i feel like 4/4 electronica like proggy house and trance has been getting more and more repetitious. it seems, to ME, like producers are listening to other producers and re-producing musical ideas, production techniques, and even sounds, samples and the like. i just grabbed the foreplay ep by probspot, and noticed that the songs all shared the same sounds and musical structure. even the new tv dinner song by the same artist sounds almost exactly like foreplay. im not trying to single out probspot, just wondering if this type of music is starting to come to a slow grinding halt as more and more songs are released. i started on prog and ill die by prog, but i fear the worst within the next decade. does anyone else share similar feeling toward this?

ive been listening to a bit more drum and bass than before, and its starting to grow on me. the beats and basslines, groovy synths and sweet fx all are fresh to my ears, a welcome change. i havent run across one cheesey single yet, and am wondering if any exist.(?)

not sure if im taking a step forward, or taking a giant step back, but whatever it is, its scaring the hell out of me, B.

i hope an edm superhero comes along to save the 4/4 community before its too late.

What a fragrant way to disguise another "Trance is dead" thread.

"fragrant" (???), lol. ok. well, i hope its not dead. just one view, mate, and maybe not a good one. i dont think it will ever die, but my concern is the quality in relation to quantity.

Well it was either that or "grandiloquent"

I neither said that I agreed with you nor disagreed with you. Yet even if you didn't mean it to be that, I predict that this thread will become, I say again, another "Trance is dead thread."

Or else people will just act like me. That is, being an idiot.

Well that's the problem, the shitty tunes are multiplying like rabbits and the quality ones are just keeping their cool

Don't use big words. You're going to hurt one of us.
