Mauro Picotto *HEADPHONES*
I was wondering if anyone knew how Mauro Picotto does his headphones? I would like to do mine like that also. What kind of paint he uses? How do they seem to glow under blacklight? what materials do i need?
Any and all suggestions welcome.
Some pics if you dont know what I am talking about.

he gets his headphones specially painted by a friend of his.
you can get it done in various places, but you should be careful, because you could end up wasting a perfectly good pair of cans.
Btw here are some more recent pics of his new headphones.
and newer still

the interview I read he said it was a friend from Italy who does them.
btw can you post a pic of the red ones, i've never seen them?
OMFG
That's freakin awesome. Yeah I know... I dont wanna waste my Good Pioneer Headphones. So no one has any idea how to do it?
UV Paint, u can buy it from some Art's 'n' Crafts stores.
but u'd need an artist to get it looking good, and yeah, im guessnig u dont really have spare MDR-V700 headphones lying around to just practice on
Yup..
Well... Actually I was thinking of being more creative & using my Pioneer HDJ 1000's
the hdj 1000 r nice orig
just the 700s r tooo plain
I painted my Senn HD-280s with spray paint, in baby blue (similar to picotto's). I just covered the padding with newspaper. Overall result looked real nice, although some of the padding got blue lol. I'm no artist, it was actually my first attempt with spray paint. But I liked the results a lot
Kool
Got a pic?
Yeah my friend is the artist he is gonna be doing it for me.

did that around a year and a half ago. Will try to take a pic of it... although they need a repaint lol. But I'm all for it, customizing your headphones is, like customizing any visual aspect of your DJing presence, the first step to be different from the others and for people to remember you
He needs to stop using 700's...those things are SO '99
yup
*heh* Well headphones are headphones. Come on people UV PAINT? Thats all you guys got?
It might not have quite the same effect under club lights, but the easiest way would probably be to just cover everything you dont want painted with tape, and then spray paint it with regular neon spraypaint.
Then if you can you could add a design by hand(paintbrush) using glow paint, or else just normal neon paint again.
dont just tape up your cans, take them apart providing you dont snap anything then they should look alot neater and go back together no probs
tried this with a previouspair of mines, just a pair of 20 sonys and spray painted them, worked out quite nice but there was some slight bubblingof the paint on certain parts
maybe 2 or 3 sprays wouldve done the trick but maybe just use a small paint roller to get a smoother texture and more controlled paint job
Kool thanks! Any more suggestions?

look at me coming to the rescue.
one of my jobs during the school year is @ home depot.
i can tell you EXACTLY how to do this. first, painters tape is cheap and super easy to cover all the parts u dont want sprayed. second, we rent air brushes for non-compressors. i'm not sure if u have ever seen a passload gun before, but they run off 12oz CO2 tanks. Airbrush w/ that FOR SURE. I think what Mr. Picotto's friend/fan uses is first a glow & dark base/neon primer (very hard to find, try a real art store). Then its the color desired and then a gloss which is why it looks so cool under the lights. What i want to do is a greenish/yellow neon color, let that dry and then paint ghost flames on the side and then gloss over just the flames. So if you can picture this, the neon will glow the same color all night but the flames will turn the same color as whatever light is hitting it.
i know... i'm good.

i can spray cars and bodywork just fine, so a small pair of headphoens shouldnt be any trouble at all...
