how do u fell when someone shouting next to your ears
i'm usually cueing with my left ear and recently i realized that its more clear using my rite ear for cueing.. then i want to change to rely with my rite ear for cueing because it more clear but i feel its more comfortable using a left ear for cueing for many reason...soon i realize that my left ear is little deaf! then its made me remember that when i was child my friends like to make a suprise by shouting next to my ears.. it makes me want to rip all their penis so they can feel how DJ's feel if their ears are flawed!!!
any advices to solve this problem!! thanks for hearing my sadness
yeah, as with eyes, once the damage is done there is little anybody can do except prevent it from getting worse. :/
if it is a result of your family, they should have known better
dude, my one friend is almost completely deaf in his left ear... and he can DJ w/ no problems.... I still can't figure it out... but he does it and he's just as good as me or anyone else I know....
The only thing I've noticed is that he'll have the headphones turned ALL the way up and mix w/ it partially off his good ear...So I guess he's listening to both in his one ear...
Weird...

so DJs are born to deaf... all the money we're collecting from DJing will entirely used for ear surgery..
how do you know that this hasnt happened from DJing? would seem obvious because only the ear ure cueing with isnt 100% any more??
Hey mate,
Kinda doubt your childhood friends are resposible for hearing damage....but that doesnt matter. I guess theres no way around it though, but if your able to cue and beatmatch using left ear (even tough the hearing is worse on it), then whats the problem? I would be more worried about loosing my hearing tempoarly (as its the most valued posession for a Dj)..
ps. See you're from jakarta..I live there too
. You going to Jakarta Movement next week?? Dont wanna miss Jonathan Lisle

. But I have to agree with you..there are way too many prog & tribal house Djs in Jakarta.
word, i get worried sometimes cuz it feels like my left ear has like fluid or something in it.....sometimes i think if i had less fluid or wax in there it would seem clearer.....also my left ear canal is smaller than my right one.....i know this becuz i've stuck my fingers in my ears.....seriously.....
soooo I'm confused but i always practice safe sound....at least most of the time....ear plugs at the plug and even during my sets.....also I never play in the red or crank my monitor....so many times i come on after someone who has their monitor cranked and i can't believe it.....too much spl (sound pressure level) causes the ear drum to distort.....how are you supposed to mix cleanly in that environment......turn that monitor down......
also, "listener fatigue" is a recording arts term for prolonged exposure to intense mids.....when you play clubs you can actually keep the dance floor by avoiding sharp eq curves.....roll off some highs, leave those mids at 12, and boost the bass slightly.......and never never play in the red.....=)

let's not forget one of the best symphony composers of all time who was deaf.. Beethoven. Beethoven's talent never diminshed, despite his failing hearing. he was completely deaf and had to press his ear to the floor while slamming down on piano keys to figure out which sound that particular key was making. so don't feel bad that your hearing is bad in one ear. if you really love music and have a passion to create and inspire, you will succeed. to create great mixes you need to feel the music, not only hear it. even though your hearing may be failing you, your passion to create great mixes is not.
the bottom line is.. don't trip about what happened to you in your childhood, just strive to do your best at what you do.

well said,.....
i live in sd too....
hah i read the title and i thought it was gonna be about mixing live when people are yelling at you from like 2 feet away
i've only mixed in front of my friends, but once i was a bit tipsy (and supposedly doing a better than normal job) and one guy comes up to me and starts making a beat, he can kinda beatbox, but purposly like 10 bpm off and doing it really loudly right at me
pretended not to care for like 10 seconds and then i turned around tweaked out
