Rise of Nations

Anyone out here play it?
I'm currently taking a break, but used to play it for hours and hours at a time.
Great graphics and lots of strategy involved.

I used to play it quite a bit, i used to play the french a lot because they had the healing of the troops or the turks because of their free seige upgrades. In the modern era missile launchers rein supreme, I only built air for defense. The only thing I didn't like was that the eras came so fast and were so different from each other that its basically whoever upgrades to the next era the fastest because they end up having such a huge advantage over everyone else.

I liked the take the capital approach to winning. Sometimes I'd just build a massive army and rush the guy's capital. Fun stuff

Yeah, the "age advancement" leap was a "cheap" way of winning, especially against the AI.
I'd sometimes limit the age to something like "gun powder", turn up the graphics and enjoy the battles.

Yeah I dont like playing online much because i like taking my time and building. Playing online is so different because often human ppl use crazy tactics and often rush early. I remember strategies in starcraft like drone rushes, building bunkers outside ppl's bases etc and wasnt as fun to me.

Yeah that is a great game, minus the corporation that made the game. Egyptians are clearly the dominate nation.
