I'm listening to the current stuff and yes, some of the newer stuff is good and interesting but for the most part it's very temperary. Nothing to run home and listen to, you know what I mean?

I must admit, I'm a euro junkie and sometimes crave for that sound.

The progressive sound is popular now and I don't really mind it but it just doesn't seem to leave a big impression on me.

even the new dumonde tunes didn't really do much for me. Just seems like it's "been there, done that, heard it before".

djVersus, agree with you 100% !

Posted by mindshooter on Sep-20-2001 17:57:

I can only say that i get at least 2 good trax every day so im not complaining...the new releases from silverblue and Fire&Ice really made my life worth the living

Posted by Gourhellyea on Sep-20-2001 19:00:

i also agree with djversus, if you look at back in the day with songs such as gouryella, touch me, voyage, the songs that are coming out now cant compete, the only exception being urban train. listening to the new yahel, even he is turning more progressive which i think is a big step back from voyage. fire and ice is whatever as well i dont think its all that

I belive your right, the trance from 98/99 was the best trance ever
this year wasnt 2 good for trance

Posted by clubsolutely on Sep-20-2001 19:09:

listen to yourself guys...
dumonde IS the best thing that happening to music right now, without the great remixes i dont know what the uplifting trance is about!

its just the fact that all the aite songs out right now are remixes, and not new songs. i mean just look at the cosmic gate remix of dreams that is popular now. if that came out last year then it would be nothing. dumonde is ok but tommorrow is still their best song in my opinion

Posted by clubsolutely on Sep-20-2001 19:43:

No!!
would you agree with me that the best dumonde track is :
NEVER LOOK BACK !

Posted by flystyler on Sep-20-2001 19:53:

I think there is less than at peak, that is coz most of the new tracks come out around the peak season in ibiza, and it is nearly reaching the end, and all the closing parties, so there is normally a few goods ones at the end of the year

I think you all over reacting, its not that bad, we have great tunes beeing realesed.
every couple of days i see someone comes out with a thread about:
"where is trance heading"?
"what will be with trance"?
"who will save uplifting trance"?

btw, its not the time for the big releases, wait to the end of the summer and than you will recive the best.

you should all come down , trance will never fade, and if you liked hard trnace like me youl find out that there new tunes released every couple of days and they are great, so relax!

Planet Violet - Velvet Skies

there are some sweet tunes right now but i think what djversus is saying that it hasn't been as good as it used to be. Having said that I'm listening to Ayumi Hamasaki - Trauma (dumonde mix) and it's just totally blowing me away This tune is sheer brilliance.

Posted by .montecarlo. on Sep-20-2001 23:30:

no worries flystyler
-----------------------------------------------------------
...and what about...
tranquility base- razorfish (above & beyond mixes) 2 of 'em
airplay- music is moving (dumonde remix)

Can't agree more, the year 2001 has been a boring year for trance music. PVD's live sets/productions are going to shit, and Tiesto's 1st half of the year consisted of him playing the same 12 records at every event. Dumonde isn't doing anything new, and their remixes are starting to sound the same. The only one I can see keeping things positive is Armin Van Buuren... his ID&T sessions are the best thing going right now.

wow!!! are these all supposed to be uplifting/epic trance? never even heard about these tunes at all!!! thats what i like ....underground tunes....

btw yeah this year hasn't been a great year for uplifting trance but it certainly wasn't way too horrible. i've managed to pick up quite a handful of great tunes out of the garbage pile. i'm saying all this but most of the time my winamp is always playing pre 2001 stuff.

In my opinion, there is always great music coming out, I just think that as trance gets more attention and songs gradually get into the pop charts (like sansdstorm making 92 on billboard, and castles in the sky's recent rise, and safri duo - played alive) the songs are changing to appeal to the pop whores instead of us. But if you look underground you can always find awesome DJ's and songs, so you don't hear em on the radio, big deal. The trance out now I like a lot anyway, but thats poobably because I haven't been exposed to much trance, being locked in redneckville Anywho, there is always great music out, just sometimes it is harder to find, and people's styles are always changing.

ah yes this is it!!! i've been trying to say this message for a long long time now but could never come up with the right words when called upon. yes that is what happened to trance. its been favoured around for the masses and not us. thats what sucks about commercializing music. its all about mass produce of something successful, tried, tested and true. cash in on as much $$$ as possible and run. the innovation and creativity that made the scene so good is lost and we're sitting here moaning about the good old days. like i said before, there are still nice tracks being pumped out but the scene as a whole is just getting a little stale IMO.
