--------trance Vs. Techno-------

Trance is awesome, but just wondering if trance lovers also like techno? most people like more than one genre, right?

wrong discussion to start mate... thisll end in a lock

but the top an bottom of it is... trance is more atmospheric, techno relys on loops and samples creating a mind winding journey, as opposed to euphoria.

with regards to thoughtfulness, id go for techno, as trance is getting wayy too watered down now.. for creativity, techno all the way.

and no im not a techno elitest

I like them both.

yes .. this is going to end up in a continuous loop..
i myself like all kinds .. trance, house, d 'n b, ambient..

there are two types of people, one that can see outside the circle and evolve around different genres, and those who stay in the circle, which stay with only one genre and never want to come out and play.. i say these forums have people that are 70% outside the circle and 20% in the circle forever and 10% who are not even part of the circle (those who don't like EDM music .. i still can't figure out why they're here)

so that's why we're going to end in a continuous loop..
in computer terms, like this..

void continuousLoop() {
int i;

i = 0;
while (i = 0) { System.out.println("I like it, but i don't like it??"); }

} // continuousLoop

I love both of them about the same. I need Techno in a long set, only Trance would get too boring...
Tech-Trance, now, that I can handle for many hours

Posted by UnBracKo on Jul-28-2004 18:34:

Yeah trance and techno, my 2 fav. styles. I think it's totally compatible.

Posted by Tranc3 on Jul-28-2004 18:34:

I don't really feel that you can objectively compare the two. Trance is melodically-oriented, whereas techno is rhythmically-oriented. If the main emphasis is on two separate areas, it gets hard to compare the two.

i really like techno, and i love trance.
ideally, a great trance set with tech
mixed in at certain points to pick up
the tempo is for me...

it's great to see people can enjoy more than one genre as each have their merits. but what do you think of parties that have trance and dj's playing in the same room, at different times of the night of course??

sorry, correction

isn't it quite irritating when a certain invidual is not aware of the edm scene or the types of music there is, but then again lets say they hear trance, prog, or house track, they label them as "techno".

Posted by Numb3rJuan on Jul-28-2004 19:46:

and i mean ppl in general, people you somewhat know that you run in to every now and then.

Tech-trance... ?

------------Yes, I do like techno----------------

Posted by gurra on Jul-28-2004 20:15:

I'm tired of that typical structure every trance track seem to have (you know, build-up, breakdown etc), sometimes it's good but most of the time it's annoying. So I say TECHNO... and house.

techno is better than trance now in my opinion trance has been on the slide for a while and i dont see it improving at the moment

got to agree all the tracks being released r very samey and not exploring anything new.

Posted by torontotrance on Jul-28-2004 21:13:

as if I give a shit what genre a track is or which one is better, to me it is EDM, to me. all that matters is if the music is any good.

I love both Trance & Techno. Like Torontotrance says: It only matters if the music is good. Ive heard some really sh!t trance & techno that i never want to relive.

The music i'm creating at the moment blends the two. Makes the music uplifting whilest it is covered in waves of beauty. You Take the tech loop away & you are left in a warped trance-space, bring it back in to take you up to another level: works great!

------Hail both trance & techno yerrrr ------

techno is the right answer

Posted by Nalin on Jul-29-2004 00:54:

well i appreciate techno, but its a little to bland for me, hence i enjoy clubbing to it every once in a while but i'd never dj it.
