Question Scene in Perth

Hello fellow addicts. I've just arrived to Perth intending to stay here for 2 more years studying comp-sci. Actually, I'm intending to get the hell out of here ASAP because I never expected for Perth to be what it is (those of you living here and having spent at least some time in decent city will understand what I'm talking about).

But I hope not everything is lost - I hope there's still a place out here which doesn't put trance or rave as a second thought. You know what I'm talking about - a place where one can really be liberated. Ibiza-like clubs, open beach goa/psy parties, free-for-all raves in the spirit of 89; all are fine with me. But not those overblown bar things I've recently saw last weekend in Leaderville, and which are visited by people whose only target is to check others and show themselves.

And, if tere's a thread which already talks about this, just link me, I've already searched by myself.

Hoping not everything is lost...

There is a HUGE crew of Perth TA's (well not huge HUGE that I know but there is a few) and I am sure they will point you in the right direction - talk to Huey & Lanitium

getting us ponies sent over there could probably help the scene a bit too

You get that wherever you go. Unfortunately Perth has a small population so it's harder to get any decent nights going.

edit: ponies suck

I only go to Huebor's events to check him out? Whats wrong with that?

Speaking of which better go get them priced up!!

re: perth scene, check namaska (www.namaska.com) they do parties in the bush, OeP events randomly on during the year .. (plug plug) (www.oep.com.au) and Rise if you like hard house/dance and hard trance (www.rise.net.au) .. oh I spose the church should get a mention too (no website for them tho) .. they play lots of hard trance / dance / house and a bitta softa stuff.

Question

Heh, not exactly the kind of responses I was expecting. While I'm going to my next class, I'll change the question a bit; What's your favorite club/rave/party/organizer in Perth and why?

Posted by REVERIE on Jul-29-2004 06:04:

Perth tends to be pretty sleepy during the Winter, as most Internationals are ripping it up during the European Summer (i'm guessing it's like this across the rest of AU). During our Summer there's some really good events. Patience is a virtue.

p.s. wish Armin would hurry the fk back

Posted by CheshireCat on Jul-29-2004 09:53:

Hmm, OK, point taken. Can't wait for summer. But, still, what would you recommend me to visit during August?

Posted by Breeze on Jul-29-2004 11:01:

look for Teknoscaper a.k.a SLADE he'll show a good time.

Posted by CheshireCat on Jul-29-2004 11:57:

Another TA member? A place?

Hmm, does anyone know them?

Posted by escee on Aug-01-2004 01:14:

ive heard the rise is pretty regular?

Posted by CheshireCat on Aug-01-2004 01:28:

I heard it mentioned as well. What is that place? Is like one of those which I described?

Posted by leet123 on Aug-04-2004 07:24:

Escee loves rise, he is a rise bunny. He is there at the minute it opens, and the last to leave in the morning, gurning off his face to dj sammy

Ches: rise is pretty lame unless you want to be surrounded by sweaty, shirtless gurners

Look at www.teknoscape.com.au for events/club nights. They have a 'Whats on' kinda which might help, also try the 'scene' section in the forums.

You could also try ITM, but they lick balls.

Posted by Huebor on Aug-04-2004 07:44:

Check out www.oep.com.au for some crappy events starring some TA types in DJ Roles

also www.oep.com.au/forums/ its pretty dead at the moment, and will prolly stay that way And its not all just about oep

Ahh, I know what you mean. There was a club like this in Israel. Now if you go there you're still surrounded by the same sweaty, shirtless gurners but they're dancing to Rap/R&B - heh, the power of the masses.

I checked the official announcements on the site and their forums. It seems that 90% of all "underground" stuff here is DnB and Gabber - which is a shame.

The worst thing though is that the only event which sounded nice is from Rise. Heh, a ripoff from Sensation. I bet the music will be "good cheese". But the crowd...

Who's coming?
