Anyone here have a really new system and has windows 98 installed?
Cuz I'm trying to figure if I should partion my drive so I can install windows 98 on one and play my old games and duel boot from xp. Any info can be much appreciated.
Just get roms man
u need fat32 to do 98 or else u cant
I think 98 is too much trouble. Like was said its a different file system and can't communicate with the other systems. Seems like a waste just to play some games to me. I have 98 and win2k on my other system and every game i have runs fine on win2k, even from 1998, so not sure how old the games ur talking about are.
u can always used vmware/virtual pc to install other OS on your current one as long as u have space/mem/speed. and no need to create new partition
hrmm true I could use vmare.. or virtual pc.. but 98 needs my system to be fat32 and I have ntfs.
Oh ya.. I used win2k before but I'm talking about the games like sam n max, space quest series, full throttle.. the ones that use the dos environment.
But then again I checked the specs on spacquest 6 dos version and it said that it won't work on Me or xp.. so am not sure about 2k.

How do I install Windows 98/Me after I've installed XP?
Install Windows 98 after Windows XP
NTFS for Windows 98
This post is assuming you have XP/2K installed already.
You could also try using the compatibility mode on the games that play on 98 in XP.
Using Program Compatibility Mode
Running Programs in Windows Compatibility Mode
I use Virtual PC for Win98 under XP. It does not matter that WinXP is NTFS. Virtual PC's Win98 environment is self contained and can be FAT32 with no problem. I would bet your older games might just run fine under WinXP unless of course they are really old.
