Is yahel really that good?

We all loved Voyage right?
The weird melody and the pounding bass.....
But thats really it....Ive loved the track for a long time and i still do...its really descent but something is missing in this track....maybe some uplifting elements?

Since i liked this track i DLd his album.....
And if you ask me i think most of it sounds like really amateur stuff.....just bass and some melody....Nothing high-energy.....when i hear his trax i wait for that big "break" but it never comes....im really tired of that.....I think it was a good idea of him to join Mp3.com cause thats a place for music that sound like his....What do U think? Am i overreacting?

HELL YEAH!

When I first got the waves of sound album, I listened to it for hours, I couldn't stop. I still can't. A fantastic mixture of epic and psychedelic trance. And voyage.....

Monkey Dancer 2

hey i hear what your saying but there is one question i would like to ask, have you heard 'Devotion' not armins remix but the original, i think that Yahel is great and deserves all the credit he can get.

Posted by mindshooter on Sep-21-2001 09:09:

Yes i have...but i dont remember quite how it sounds....I will listen to it when i get home....

So im the only one that think that he is Overestimated?

Posted by SevenFaith on Sep-21-2001 09:14:

HappyHappy

hey i admit its taken a long time for yahel to get recognition over in the UK and other places but he dose produce good music

Posted by YuVaL on Sep-21-2001 09:55:

well.. mindude.. listen, if you want a really energic track live voyage was...

download

Yahel - Intelligent Life

IMHO its the second best track he ever produced

Yahel - Voyage [Magikal Remake]

MAD MAD MAD

This track is at No. 2 on my all time favorite list, i prefer tiesto's version to the original as well as Open Your Mind [Magikal Remake]

but i have to admit, yahel does too many tracks which are very similar, i think he should try remixing some tracks

That doesn't have to mean anything.
Maybe it's also a place for prople who really have talent.

Otherwise I hate mp3.com for several reasons. Mostly because they are using people, and because they damage all mp3 files in purpose, so they can sell more CDs. I hope people keep suing them, so they go down, nobody needs a place like that. There are better and way more social services than that.

I downloaded like 4 of his songs the other night and I thought the same exact thing: "great ideas, but something is missing", to give it that polished touch...

Don't hate me!!

Posted by mindshooter on Sep-21-2001 12:18:

Read This!

Hmm..ok..dont know if i heard the Magikal remake of those trax.....but that doenst mean Yahel is good...cause someone else did the track in a different way.......I took a listn to my Yahel trax...and i can understand that certain ppl that listen to Psycedelic music lik this.....but i mean.....The yahel trax i have is so weak...only bass and some Psycedelic twist......listen to Astral projection - TranceDance.....thats how a Psycedelic track should be....lotsof sounds and effects......

And about mp3.com....i meant he fits there cause he sounds like most of the artists there...you can find real quality to there...like astral projection for example

Posted by Narcotic Mind on Sep-21-2001 14:02:

I know what you mean, weak traxx... and yeah there are some very poor energy traxx by him though he does produce fast and full energy traxx too, psy trance can also be slow and have a slow bpm... astral projection produce goa trance which is all about energy and it's like a total crazy music, yahel produce many kinds of psy trance and sometimes even goa so don't expect every single track by him to be super fast and mad.

anyway i've seen him spinning like 20 times and he really goes crazy on clubs, he just know to play the right music

Hmm ok....but it seems like Yahel is Trying to achieve that Goa style but he doesnt make it all the way.....

Im sure he is a great DJ Havent heard him....

Posted by eXeTik on Sep-21-2001 14:17:

Nope...
yahel is a great artist and he has some more hits besides voyage:
"open your mind"
"intelligent life"
"for the people"

i heard him lots of times playing live but i dont like him as a dj - most of the tracks he plays now is techno and very progressive stuff...

and what album did u d/l?
i have the "waves of sound" album and its great IMO...

i didnt like his new album "mixing in action" - its nice but too much techno/progressive sounds for me...(but this is not his tracks).

yahel - open your mind (magikal remix) - you have to d/l it!!! i think its a classic ... so much emotions in that one...

try also these tracks:

yahel - for the people (radio edit)
yahel - intelligent life
yahel & Miss. T - skywalker
yahel & Miss. T - going up

Posted by [DJK] on Sep-21-2001 15:16:

As far as i understand Yahel plays live mostly in Israel. Does he tour often or at all?

Posted by Sm0keMachine on Sep-21-2001 15:34:

Yahel? Amateur?? wtf! Yahel's production work imo is almost better then pvd!! (yeah you read it right ) All his tracks are really well made..

The album that you've heard by him must have been "Cosmic Waves" which I don't like too, but that's because I don't like that style of music.. (psy-trance) actually many psy-trance lovers really love that album!
it's not supposed to sound like Astral Projection..! they produce a totally different type of music....

his uplifting/progressive trance tunes are completely different from the "Cosmic Waves" album.. I recommend "Suger 1"! fucken amazing track...

Posted by YuVaL on Sep-21-2001 16:14:

Yahel - Blue Side Of Me
Yahel - D.N.A (Deep mix)
Yahel - Devotion (Armin Van Buuren Mix)
Yahel - For The People (Extended Version)
Yahel - Going Up (Trance Mix)
Yahel - Intelligent Life
Yahel - Open Your Mind (Magikal Remake)
Yahel - Run Away (A Side)
Yahel - Sugar 1 (Whitelabel Mix)
Yahel - Voyage
Yahel - Waves Of Sound

and i have alot more

just wanted to post the really good ones

Posted by Eugene on Sep-21-2001 16:31:

Thumbs up

mindshooter, I agree with you completely!

I know exactly what you mean!
I also think Yahel's productions are a little amateurish and lack something.

It's very good you were brave enough to say that I thought I was the only one who had this thought...

Nope?

Well.....I liked Open your mind first....the silent break in the middle and the stuff....but when i got the Full vinyl rip of it i noticed its as week as his other trax.....

Intelligent life is a good track...but IMO i think Juan domi Jorgs - Spriritual healing is better....sounds almomst the same but better...check it out...One of them ripped the other one of for sure....

I havent heard For the people...

I don't think he's that special either. I really liked "Voyage" when it just had been released, but it got overplayed, and today I think it's ordinary, nothing more. I listened to the Magikal Remake recently, and that dissaponted me even more - it was almost excactly similar to the original. I've listened to some of his other tracks as well, and I can't say I'm to impressed. Of course this doesn't mean he's a bad producer or anything, I guess he just doesn't make the style of trance that I prefer.

Posted by kurai on Sep-21-2001 20:45:

I listened to Yahel, I can't compare it with top producers, but what I like about him, that he's got his own style. Voyage for example is kinda special and I kinda like it. Have to get the magikal remake.

Posted by Jah on Sep-22-2001 03:43:

well

i sorta know what you mean voyage is what turned me on to him so i downloaded a ton of his songs and thought they were O K nothing compared to voyage right...
but anyway recently ive heard more and more and forced myself to hear them over and over (like if im in the other rooma nd the playlist is going) and all i have to say is it really really really grows on you initially i really liked you inside it inspired me to listen to all his other tracks again, and then i got the grail of yahels music! sugar 1! i fucking love that song my only quarm about it is i wish the vocals would come in a bit earlier but if you notice yahels style is not with the massive build up he has a steady beat up too (usually around 3 - 4 mins in the song) hinting at this change... when 3 or 4 mins comes the track transforms continiously (have you noticed how he has these really distinctive bits before the main chorus, and after...) its almost like 2 chorus's but they work in sync incredibly, also his remix's arn't really remix's he really does something with them (run away side b for example...) he transforms the whole song... usually when artists do this is dangerous terrortory cause the whole reason there remixing it is cause the original formula works... but for some reason so does his other ones he is very very very talented i dont know if he has reached his potential or some of the other stuff he produces has too many psychedilic but his trancey tracks are phenomenal i reccomend you check out (and that means listen to it the whole way through about 4 times ) ummm these ones
Run Away (Side B) <--- i like side b better side a is good too tho
DNA (Deep Mix) <--- wow.
Suger 1 <--- more wow. when those chanting vocals kick in fuck.....
You Inside <--- probably a great track to listen too first...
Yahel - Sun Scream <--- Fast... alot harder but still awsome...
For the People <-- the extended or original is the best... build up...
Devotion <--- havent checked out the original yet, anyone help me out?
Sound and Melody <--- hmm i dunno about this one i can understand if you would call it basic but i still like it it sounds good thats what counts i guess...
and finally The Last Man in The Universe <---- FUCKING LOVE IT NOW!!!
listen to that last one a few times the breakdowns are so amazing!
he is really talented i would go as far to say a genius in this field
