Adding Effects
whats up guys?Ferry Corsten was down here in Cape Town in June and i stood in awe watching the way he drove the crowd nuts by adding in effects during the breakdowns, but have no idea what and how he was doing it.Any help

either mini discs or the FX on the Mixer. or a koss pad 2. or he got on the mic and made them him self
jem, could you elaborate what you mean by using md's??? The only thing i could think of using a md in a breakdown is playing a recorded sample or something.
well on how he was making those effects, he was probably using a mixer with built-in effects, or an extra effects box, like the Kaos Pad or the Pioneer EFX500, which can be plugged in to most mixers.
As for what effects he used during those breakdowns well unless u have a sample of the effect, it could be any of the following or even other effects, but these are the most basic: echoes, reverbs, delays, and flangers.
ok
you record samples on your Mini Disc and then burn it to the mini disc and then play it over the part of the vinyl that you want to hear from the sample on the mini disc

Zabiela is definitely the man when it comes to effects and sampling. And yea, using a MD is completely pointless. There is no advantage to using an MD over a simple sampler.
The only thing i used my MD was recording my live sets. Now i just use my laptop instead, so md is kinda pointless for me.
ferry could also have been using the filters if he was using a xone62 or 92

is this the model that zabiela uses?
also, he uses cd's... it is easier/harder/same with vinyl?
he used the efx500 for scratching too right?

i dunno man... when he's playing with that box it looks like he's using samples a lot and that would seem easier with cd's
well i guess a better question is would it make any harder/easier for zabiela to do what he does if he used vinyl instead of cd's
He was using on a Pioneer mixer on the night and the effects did sound kinda filtery.Dont know the exact model though. Also, more than half of his set was mixed from CDJ's.
he once came here to Lisbon to play, top guy
He used CDJs 80% of the time, he actually carried his own CDJ-800s and installed them (that club only had the CDJ-1000s) and of course it's easier to do what he does with CDs, because of the loop/beat cutter facilities of the CDJ-800s
By that I don't mean that anyone can be a Zabiela easily, obviously
Zabiela scratches?????

I have his set from Lot 33... Actually it is streamable online. If anyone wants to hear a true version of perfection (spinning live) then click HERE. It's a tremendous 3 hour set.
