Monkey Dancer 2 What is the worst things with YOUR country? :p

So since most people here are bashing other countries and defending their own country, i thought it might be fun to start a thread were people can bash on their own country.

people posting "nothing" or similar just shows how ignorant they are

so let me start:

bad things about swedish politics:

-rarely take sides in conflicts, often just support the strongest side.

-sometimes the politicians/normal people are too far from reality, they are living in an own world too much, a world that perhaps worked 50 years ago...

-Too much substitutes for unnecessarily things.

-Too many extreme left people.

Hmm yeah i think i can come up with more, but that's enough for now

good topic

- don't like our tax system

- don't like how it seems we try to help other countries before helping our own interests

- tax money is spent very poorly

- the roads in this country absolutely suck, they never maintain them like they should

- tollbooths. to make matters worse they decide to make you pay absurd amounts of money to drive on a road that your money helped build in the first place only to say the money is to help with the upkeep of the road. Unfortunately the roads still are in poor shape. Also they just create traffic points in rush hour.

- i don't like the republican and democratic parties. i think there should be one party so no one votes along partisan lines and they vote how they truly feel about the candidates. Also this would help laws being passed in congress because congressmen again won't have to vote along lines

- i dont like our oil and energy dependance on other nations. We have too few refineries, not enough thinking toward alternate fuels and we have an energy problem in big states. We also have antiquated power lines years behind even some developing nations. This is unexcuseable in a country with the economy of ours.

- my cable company dropped OLNTV so i couldn't watch the tour de france

are you kidding?

It's the Scandanvian like tax policy!

18% sales tax, plus income taxes, pluse property taxes, etc, by the end of the day you are lucking to keep 30% of your salary.

good job Yoepus! missed the topic only to post on the Israel topic!

its interesting to hear this stuff as I got a sense of Sweden in school and while i was there...

BBN's post was interesting as it connected both, tho i dont see how one political party is the best choice. it works for china i guess-

one thing i dislike about the US and like about Sweden are that elections are for parties and issues, and unlike the US where its for money and figureheads. i wish there were more options here *truthfully* and that every election wasnt a popularity contest.

on a lighter note, drug commercials piss me off, as half the time they seem to be marketing to stoners or something - and when too much money is being spent on 'fighting' the number 2 economy on the planet i find it offensive|

fat people and walmart too...

- Too many Lebs
- Too many Vietnamese
- Too many Islanders/Maoris
- John Howard/Liberal Party
- Anti Speeding campaigns which say speeding kills and you'll go to prison. But when a death occurs, the speeding motorist still gets away with it.
- Lazy police
- Americanisation
- John Howard
- Rugby League, Union and Australian Rules "football" and all other sports. The country gets excited all over these inferior mickey mouse sports, and have failed to understand and embrace the culture of world football.
- Like a few other countries Murdoch owns most of our media.

The single worst thing about the United States of America is the hypocrisy of pretending to support a seperation of church and state while simultaneously basing policy decisions on religious beliefs.

A close second is the strong desire most people seem to have to be stupid.

But John Howard's the one spending hundreds of millions of dollars of your tax-payer money keeping these non-white people out of the country. Surely, if you dislike the Lebs, Viets and islanders that much you'll cast your vote for Howard, Ruddock, Vandstone and let them lock down the brown man at your own expense?

Change number 9 to John Howard and we've got ourselves an agreement.

Britain

1. We let in tooooooooooooooo many asylum seekers and the government are giving them housing so we nowhere to live and our house prices are through the roof coz of the demand.

2. Tony blair (and most of the labour party). He is too stubborn with his decision making, and doesnt listen to the public. We had to bring the entire country to a stand still just to get him to reduce tax on petrol a cuple years ago.

3. Roman Abramovich - Fuck off wanker

4. The weather is usually shit

all i can think of at the mo

oh yer

The astronomical increase in 'defence' spending at the cost of essential public services like health and eductaion.

John Howards head firmly inplace up George Bush's ass.

The drought, I haven't had a nice long hot shower in so long now.

The explosion in crappy reality TV, things like 'Wife Swap', 'The Apprentise', '*Insert random home reno show*'... oh god they are shit, I nearly explode when I see another one 'coming soon'

That's all for now.

The Bush administration

Outsourcing

The drinking age(I can go fight and die for my country, but I can't go into a bar and order a beer).

We say we have freedom of speech, but when celebrities speak out against Bush, people call them on treason. Freedom of speech my ass.

The government should take more action against the buisnesses in our country, especially the large ones.

Good topics and some good issues you posted there St_Andrew. I'll see if I can continue:

- The system within many politcial parties, especially the ruling Social Democrats, tends to favour people who have been working their way up in the party lines the tradiditional ways (usually for many years). Having worked in real life and/or getting a proper education is not nearly as important. An example of this is we have an economy minister who hasn't had a proper job ever and didn't even graduate high-school (gymnasiet).

- Although I have nothing against paying taxes I have started to feel they really are mis-managing the whole thing. We have the highest tax-burden in the world and despite this the school system and health care systems are just getting worse and worse.

- The general belief among Swedish citizens that we are a very open minded people when in fact too many people have problems accepting those who are different and all kinds of foreigners. Good luck finding a job in this country if you have the wrong name....
