Dancing Dude britney spears - toxic (extalin remix)

i started this a couple days ago by timestretching the toxic vocals (with the pluck guitar sound too) down to more of a slow trance bpm and then i timestretched that to to half as fast... it really changes the mood of the song... but anyway, this is what i have so far, but i am having fun with it so i might finish it soon (hopefully)

let me know what ya feel

-rob

edit: changed a few things

Posted by extalin on Aug-01-2004 14:31:

as in the link doesn't work or the song doesn't work for you?

Posted by BuRoLovesTrance on Aug-01-2004 14:41:

not bad but too simple for me....

Posted by extalin on Aug-01-2004 15:16:

ok, i understand when it's not an early sample it won't be as simple

Posted by DeZmA on Aug-01-2004 15:28:

Sounds good
love what you did with vocals
keep it up

Posted by Haak on Aug-01-2004 15:29:

the vocals sound really cool slowed down like that
will be interesting to hear the final version

Posted by DJPrototypeX on Aug-01-2004 16:44:

well, it sounds simple, but bein an early sample.. good stuff. the vocals stretched like that add a different feel to the song. one thing i didnt like, the vocals dont seem to quite fit the beat. its hard to explain.. lol.. but u either over stretched the vocals or under stretched.. but i like what u tryin to do.. cant wait for a full version

Posted by ulver on Aug-01-2004 18:54:

Smile

nice sample i like the vocals
btw what style is it remixed in?

Posted by TOR on Aug-01-2004 19:02:

sounds great, i love the sounds you used.. volume levels are all over the place though, but i'm sure you'll get that sorted out.

looking forward to the finished version

Thumbs up Excellent work again

u always have some new style, no one has ever used before, but im saying it as a good thing not a bad
surprisingly u turned britney into something that wont make my ears bleed!
when ur done this pleeeeeeeeease share it, this is amazing, but can i request one thing, when u share it share two pieces, one vocal and one dub PLEEEEASe
i hate the vocals, kewl fx i mean but i hear the melody in this song and its amazing without these shit vocals... ach i cant stand it hehe
please just export it with the vocals on mute, shouldnt be too hard

thanx
peacce out

Really love wat you've done with the vocals. The slower bpm style makes it aggressive, it feels kinda cool. Nice work. I hope you get to finish this, keep us updated!

Re: Excellent work again

thanks for listening and for the feedback everyone

@ ulver: i dunno what style this would be i like combining different elements from different styles.. like i'm not really tryin to make one thing or the other.. just kinda let it take me wherever (although i do have a general direction usually) i guess it would be vocal trance with some breakbeat section and a psy influence maybe?? haha

Posted by Fatboy on Aug-02-2004 17:02:

Definitely an interesting take on the vocals. I'm sure this will turn ou as good as you other stuff. Looking forward to the full version. 10/10 for originality and creativity

Posted by en2t on Aug-02-2004 17:21:

great job with vocals, rob. The melody is nice too, definitely uplifting and trancey -- but i dunno if it's as catchy as you'd promised it to be

Stan.

Posted by extalin on Aug-02-2004 21:14:

thanks fatboy

and thanks stan

lol! ahh, it's terrible i didn't meet your expectations

i'll have to fix this situation

but not to make it 'catchy'

i'll try not to promise so much in the future lol.

Posted by Jocker on Aug-03-2004 02:22:

i like it a lot... the vocals are reaaaally freaky...

giiiiiiiiiveeeemeeeeeeeiiiiiiiit... the final version, that is

Posted by extalin on Aug-03-2004 02:41:

Extalin,
Like the song so far... very unique sound. Britney usually sounds like a dying giraffe but she sounds different... I think this one sounds like it has alot of potential. Would definately like to hear it when it is completed. Keep up the good work.
Peace

Killer work man!
I'm really looking forward to the final version! The only thing I'd recommended is keeping it darker and more progressive-ish. I like how the chords and bass changes, but it starts to get a little too trancey...and with the sound of the vocals I feel like it should just get chunkier and more complex (like, more trippy layers as oppose to note changes in the bass).

Mind you, that's definitely a personal taste thing, but I feel like that's the vocals are calling for.

Like I said though, this sounds killer so far! Looking forward to whatever you do with it.

Hello!

i agree with what others have said. It's a really interesting take on the vocals but at some points they are too loud and there is definitely a timing issue with the percussion. Maybe this could be improved by adding more spacey reverb effects?

I also think you should keep the music less trancy and make it more dark tribal prog style.

A good example sound would be space bros - one more chance (Riley and Durrant remix). This had a deep, dark, powerful sound but still retains some trancy elements (esp the breakdown) to keep the track interesting to the listener.

or make it warped prog, holden style!

But again that maybe personal taste ( thou i hope its not!)

since i hate the original to death, like really really sick and annoyed at the overplayed piece of dung, im glad this remix of yours pisses all over the original, but not only that, it sounds really good so far!

its like u ripped out of my head what i'd do to the vocals (well, you do way more sophisticated things, but basically you mess with them in a positive and creative way!). like the little breakbeatish part near the end of the sample, and overall just really enjoy it!

little bit messy near the end of the sample, so much happening.

i'd like a copy of the final work if that's cool!

cheers!

that's exactly what i do! i just come up with crazy ideas and try it out and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't lol (i hit the undo button a lot, but it's fun to me because i hear some crazy stuff lol

i gotta finish this! but... i'm fixin to get some sleep first

Posted by d-jay MyTH on Aug-04-2004 09:30:

yes you hit the nail on the head. like nothing (93 returning)!

also get inspiration from here http://www.jamesholden.org.uk/diary.htm

His britney remixes are very good i just wish he made more use of the vocals. You don't even know it's britney.

Posted by DjCommisad on Aug-04-2004 10:02:

before i even heard your remix of satellite, i did the same stuff with my sound engineering project last january. while people took a sound sample and warped it, i warped that capella with the kid sayin 'when i grow up, i wanna be a dj' and yeah, i totally agree, so many really cool things come out of messing with vocals in a program like protools or audition... and yes, you push the undo button a lot!!

get some sleep, finish her up, and maybe send 'er my way?

cheers!
