Review: Industry Reunion Party @ The Docks: Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Josh Wink,

Quite the night. Got there around 11:15 to catch the glorious sounds of Kenny Glascow. Stayed in the techno room for Stacy Pullen, OMG Great set! I forgot all about Mark Farina and only managed to catch the last 2 tracks of his set. Wandered between the two rooms for a bit afterwords trading off Josh Wink and DJ Sneak. Sneak came out the winner, he kept the house pounding throughout his set. Josh Wink's set was definately not his best work. Only complaint is the disproportionate amount of ginos and boob-jobs, meh, that's the docks for yah I guess.

No, thats Toronto for yah..

LOL

I had a great night. The crowd energy wasnt there (but it rarely is in TO) but the music was great and i got really trashed LOL!.. It was nice to see new and old faces. The docks new set up reminds me of clubs youd find in south america or the mediterrenean. They just need to replace the blue outdoor huts with straw roofs or roofs made of palm. Too bad the docks cant get their shit together on a regular night because it has some nice potential now.

PS josh wink played higher state of conciousness and i went mental! hehehehe i havnt heard that in ages

I decided yesterday morning to sell my ticket after going through pains to get it in the first place...I was just not feeling up to it.

I was really only going for Pullen, I knew he'd rock it, but I heard him not that long ago anyways.

REVIEW: Industry @ The Docks

All I have to say is that I was REALLY bored ....I mostly hung out in the patio with my friends...I just found the music uninspiring & NOT the hard/tribal house that I love...I couldn't even stick around for Honey Dijon so I have no idea how she sounded ....MAAAAN I should have gone to Boa instead

I need glasses

I just realised that someone ELSE posted a review....Sorry about that people

Honestly...you didn't miss much...As I had posted (another review that I posted even though THIS one had already been up ), I was bored most of the nite. I was hoping for some deep hard tribal house but I didn't hear anything to get my feet steppin up a storm...I mostly hung out in the patio with my friends...I couldn't stay past 5am because I was tired so I missed Honey Dijon's set (How was her set anyway???)...I guess I am a bit picky when it comes to my kinda house tunes but I was glad that there were ALOT of people for the promotors sake...Big ups to Mike Holtzman (sp?)for the decor in & out of the club

... I shoulda gone to Boa

To be honest, I only went because a couple of my friends were producing the event. Expectations were low AND i don't like tribal or house.

BUT, I had an awesome time. I loved the vibe of the whole evening. The crowd was as friendly and cool as any I have seen at the Guv, and the whole two-room plus patio setup seemed to work well.

I spoke to Daniel Bellavance (former Industry owner) and Steve Ireson (one of Industry's original promoters/programmers) and asked them to program some trance next time. Steve was puzzled as to why they haven't yet, and he reminded me that PVD made his first TO appearance at Industry, along with other Trance stalwarts... Maybe at Industry Reunion 3 we'll get us some trance!

My favourite part of the night, was Honey Dijon taking a good natured hissy fit on her microphone about being forced to turn her equipment off at 8:15. "Honey, I am from New York City, and where I come from parties are just getting started at 8:15 in the morning."

I'm suddenly missing Industry and looking forward to Reunion 3.

I had a great time. The music was great as well. I have nothing to complain about except they wouldnt let you take pictures inside which is fuckin stupid.

P.S. - I went to say Hi to Justin Styles and it turns out I won a pair of tickets for guv this saturday. Thanks a lot.

You and I probably have way different tastes in music.
From what I heard, Stacey rocked it and he was who I was wanting to hear the most.

It was an aural assault indeed. They even extended his set by 30 mins

Oh god i hope not. Trance was 5% of the history of Industry and honestly there are way more trance events now and not enough house events. Let this one be. I enjoyed the music which for the most part was very old school industry house. Artists id like to see next time as well would be J-dub and Derrick Carter.

Remember that these parties are for the industry regulars more than for the nu skoolers. And even though industry had its special one off events, it was all about the house.

Stacey did rock it... he reminded Toronto that you dont need 5 minute long build ups to have hype music.
Thumbs up!

Mark Farina OWNS it!

Mark Farina was the man of the night. The room was packed and people were dancing. The roof was sweating and so was I. The other set I caught was Stacey Pullen who also rawked it pretty hard. Josh was a little weird for my taste - but the Higher State of Con. was nice to hear again. Kudos to Matt C and Dj Sneak whom I quite enjoyed as well. Was a great chance to see old friends. WICKED party thanks to the Industry Crew.....

you said it. Industry was and should continue to be all about the HOUSE. Never was a trance thing and since Toronto already has so much to offer as far as trance events go, I like that Industry is staying true to its roots.

I could do without the posing and fake boob crowd as well. Industry was more about the music than looking good on the dancefloor...hell, it was an effing hole...but the beats? delicious.

Did you wear the hat pictured in your avatar?? If so I think I might have saw you dancing during Sneak's set. I was dancing to the right of the DJ Booth for like 90% of his set. Blue Jeans and white shoes and red and white shirt that read: "Pizza my Heart" on the front.

I had a great time. Music, vibe and patio were perfect. First time at Docks in the evening - would go back!

(One suggestion to Docks - more sitting please!!!)

Patio? Putting more seating in the first room would cripple the size of the room (yea I wanted to sit too ). The second room had enough seating that I could remember, especially with the patio so close and the warm weather.

Industry was also about techno don't forget...

Posted by psyrel on Aug-04-2004 00:32:

Stacey Pullen killed me with those beats..... holy ass shaking bass! Dirty, growly and relentless.... this was THE set of the night for me. Wink dropped the tempo initially but quickly brought in some chunky electro stuff that had me pounding my little feet away. Loved the closing by Doc Martin, the downtown skyline and sunrise behind him made the ending that much more surreal.

Really like the new Docks layout and sound.... I can see myself checking out more events there before the summer is over. The patio area (and more specifically, the lower dock on the water) was sweet, so great to get some much needed cool air and inevitably end up chatting with familiar faces.

Kudos to the Industry crew for this.... and the free cd at the end of the night ensures that I will be thinking of this night every time I listen to it.
