Man, 20, stabbed at dance event

Apparently it wasn't all fun. Hopefully, everyone concerned is ok, and this won�t put next years licence in jeopardy!

Chief Supt David Whitehouse said: "I am pleased that a large number of people used the drugs amnesty bins, but unfortunately some people are prepared to take the risk of being caught by police and ignoring the offer of an amnesty. "Overall I was very pleased with the police operation and low level of crime, especially when you consider that there were around 35,000 people at the event. He added: "Obviously the stabbing, and arrests of people supplying drugs were very serious offences, but the figures are down on last year - a trend which we will work hard to replicate during any future events."

i bet the peopel bre\king legs were wankers trying to jump the fence, sum1 did that last year. serves them right.

last year they had metal detectors did they not have any this year then? if they didnt thats just pure stupidity

Not a very pleasant read. I did think the security was noticeably looser this year, which I mentioned to someone when I got inside, can�t remember who it was though! I had a big back pack, and it certainly wasn�t thoroughly searched, plus the door man who was letting me in kept asking the guy to his right about things like empty water bottles (which he wanted to confiscate, but I took back and went in with regardless), so I presumed it was his first day!

2 years ago no one searched my back pack...

i dont remember any metal dectors last year as i walked straight into it without being checked and my pockets were stuffed full ..

I definitely don�t remember any metal detectors last year!

If they up the price of the timetables, yet again, to �7 next year, perhaps they will be able to afford one.

i would seriously doubt the had metal dectors, or if they did they wouldnt of used them.


way to much hassle

I took the advice of godskitchen site about car crime, i.e. put everything in boot, leave glove box open and empty, only to come back and find my car had been raided, but they didn't nick anything.

plus there was a lot of *really* dodge scallys hanging around, which I didn't feel comfortable about in fear of been robbed or beaten up or something.

Makes me think twice about going to big festivals again in this country.

I�ve never heard that about leaving your glove compartment open before! Strange.

guess it does make sense thinking about it .. though it might be too subtle for some scallies ..

Not really � my guess would be that the logic behind leaving it open is to suggest �look, I�ve got nothing to hide,� but I�d have though that this would have just wound the undesirables up because they�d have though of it as taunting them, thus doing the car over regardless.

i barely got searched, i left my keys and half my money in my pocket and the only part of me that got touched was around my knees, i could have had fucking anything.

having said that...

when i went to gk @ telewest earlier this year i had a penknife on my keyring, the knife doesnt sit properly in it's slot and the bloke blatantly saw it who searched me and let me thru. useless bastards

shite, cant believe that happened, although i do agree that entrance security was piss poor, I didn't even get searched, just walked straight through. Think they deffo need metal detectors at the gate.

Scared me a bit, because i was walking around on my own for a bit.

Also had some twat walk up to me from behind and blow a horn in my ear, probably looking for a reaction to start a fight or whatever, but i was a bit mashed to say anything

Oh well, roll on next year

Security was very shoddy, I had a backpack and like last year I had all my clothes in there as I was only in the uk for a couple of days. No one searched the pockets of those clothes and the body search was very brief. They just made me move clothes around in the bag rather than search them so if i had something in there I could of kept moving it around so they wouldn�t see. Also the security behind the main stage was a joke! Got my pic with Tiesto, PVD, ferry e.t.c No one checked if I had any arm bands (only had a VIP one,) I walked freely thro the back of event as well where the dj's were and the offices where things were being coordinated from. One guy asked me if I was working tonight, "nah mate not tonight eh!" and he didn�t seem to care! Chatted for a while and i walked off.

Had a great time though. Think the first time I went was when I enjoyed it the most (2002.) 2003 was still pretty good but not as good as 2002, and this time around it wasn't as good as 2003 but still pretty good. Unsure if i'll go again, something to decide next year!

i can honestly say both years i went (ie the two before this one) i had a proper search and so did my bag. this time it sounded like a complete cock up of GCSSS2002 proportians :/

i did have to empty my bag but if i had anything to hid it could easily have just stayed rolled up in my jumper that was in there and security wouldnt have had a clue. I wasn't patted down at all and nobody even took my ticket!!!

35,000 people tho? There were loads more people than last year it wouldn't have suprised me if they sold a large portion of their tickets.

Im not suprised that there was knives and shit. In the queue i was in , if you didnt have a bag, you could walk straight through.. ridiculous..

I know its unlikley but a terrorist COULD of had a bomb strapped to him and taken out half an arena....

what's the chances of any of the security guards being trained in any way to handle the threat of terrorism, they are all probably, actually, make that an are, just students or people being recruited for the one off to make 80 quid for the night of something, was there even a police presence if drugs/guns were found?

Whilst in the Air tent i had some scallie try to steal my digital camera.

He was very subtle about it, i was taking some pics of the stage area from the back of the tent, and this guy stopped in front of me and was like 'hey man, let me take ur picture'
I said no thanks and carried on.
He then took hold of the camera and again said, 'come on man, let me take ur picture'
The strap of the camera was around my wrist so he was unsuccesful in taking the camera off of me.
this carried on for a further few minutes where he insisted he wanted to take my picture then when he realised i was not about to give him the camera he made a desperate snatch and ran, like i said the camera strap was around my wrist and as he dashed off i tripped him up, told him to fuck the hell off and put the camera back into my pocket.

What i should have done thou, thinking about it now was took his Picture and posted it all over the net.

Yep they were there, they tried to keep out of the proceedings unless there was problems

that would seriously slow down the admission though .. as coins keys etc would set the alarms off and people always forget to take everything off them ..

as for security guards .. well some1 being paid minimum wage aint going to risk being beaten up or stabbed in order to help some1 out that might have run into a little trouble are they?

I suppose the upside to it is that it just goes to show how rare an occurance like that is at a major dance festival. If it's on numerous news websites and forums all over the net then it must be quite an isolated incident. Not like all these clubs that play other types of music such as R'n'B. I've known a stabbing to happen outside a fair few R'n'B and Hip Hop clubs lately, and no-one bats an eyelid.

Hope the guy's OK.
