Recording Options

What options have people tried for recording from the mixer? No, hooking up a computer is not an option.

you could connect a minidisc with an RCA Y-cable
or any other digital recording device
or you could do it old school and connect a tape deck and record to tape
or you could do it ghetto old school and get a portable tape recorder and just put it next to your speaker and hit record

Maybe I should have been more specific, I'm aware of the ways, I was looking for more specifics about the equipment. Something reasonable, all these MP3 players are great, none of them have line-in's. DAT recorders are pretty expensive from what I've read. The Minidisc sounds like my only useful affordable option at the moment.

My Archos Jukebox Recorder MP3 player has a line in, I use it to record when I'm not by my computer! Sounds pretty good, it records at about 160 kbps.

minidisc is a great way to go. the sound quality on them is pretty nice
wong's mp3 player/record suggestion sounds like a good option too

i actually like the idea of getting a tape deck. keep it old school

Not true. The iRiver iHP-120 MP3 player records in WAV and MP3 format (up to 320 kbps).

Yes so do many of them, including the one I have. But does it have a Line-IN or is it just a shitty microphone?

Another note, the Sony MD's do not allow you to transfer your recorded material from the MD onto the PC. The only way to get it from the MD to the PC, is to simply play the music from the MD into the line-in of your PC and use some recording software. Basically you record your music twice, once into the MD, then MD to the PC. Real convenient

recording to DAT is the way i prefer....recording to comp is less reliable IMHO and i prefer having a hard clean copy.....it is more time consuming yes.....but i'd rather do it twice then maybe have a mix with glitches or unknown noises....that can't be fixed.....i record over dats countless times and its extremely reliable

p.s. DATS (tascam da 20 mk2) go for 120-150 bucks on ebay...well worth it
