An Idea I Had....
I was wondering if there would be an intrest in having a free concert next summer on South Padre Island for local Texas talent(includes SA, ATX, H-TOWN, DFW, etc). kinda an ibiza wanna-be thing. i think id be cool but i'm trying to judge how hard it would be to actually do it......
it would own if we could actually pull it off.
ima try to talk to the city to see what we could do on the beach cuz like you said itd be bada$$. but well see what happens.
i'm down to support however I can.
ditto, let us know what you find out and keep thinking out loud
I live in McAllen also and know several people living at South Padre Island. It is possible I can get a venue to host it at (Louie's Backyard or I think a place called Paradox). Also, we can have it down at the wooden covered decks on the Jetties if you talk to the right people. Let me know
Oh yea, I know a couple promoters down there also that would probably be interested in this.
i'm not 100% sure about this statement but timing is going to be everything on this one. you guys/gals that live down there could probably back that statement up with something a little more solid, but i'm betting so.padre is filled with family vacationers (ie. you wouldn't draw much of a crowd). definately keep peeps in the loop on this one. i need a good excuse to go to sopad.
preferrably (i cant spell) id like to have it in June or even May because its not AS busy as July. and ill be able to get off from work(i rent out condos) hey dirk i thought i was the only one from the valley nice to know im not. and yeah anything you can get a hold would help since i was just thinking about throwing something up north of andy bowie park on the beach DJ booth looking out to the water. and thanks for the support.--Bo
I suppose THIS will be our new meetup thread?
WHY NOT?
I don't know what I can do from here in Dallas besides promoting it and getting people to make the drive. As long we build a pretty solid line-up I think it could work!

yeah thats why i need to talk to the city. i have tomorrow off so i can go then...to those that know spi, where do u think would be a good location to hold this? if any place on padre was availible.
Man that would be tooooooooo sweet if it happens!

dude for real get the ball rolling on this idea
ill try to support it any way i can
rapfiend, stay in contact with me. i think i can help you out a lot with this one.
well got back from talking to the city.(city hall sent me to city works) i had a pretty good convo with the building manager dude(i got his card in the car but its too far to go get it) this is what he told me 1. If its on the actual beach it has to be a free concert(state law-public beach) 2. If we do it in the city limits of S.P.I., on the public beach we need permission from the land owners as the beach is owned all the way to the water. 3. The city has a noise ordinance where as there cant be any loud music after 11pm. but he did give some advice....For One Costa Rica is right on the beach so i need to talk to them, and two past the convention center is past city limits, so what we could do is have it on the beach at one of the beach accesses(?) the county really doesnt regulate that land and they cant really tell anyone not to show up and have a party on the beach(except for the park police which he said i should talk to). So now i have to talk to cameron county works (just to double check for myself) to see if we can do it. Finally since it will have to be free its looking like ima need donations for the DJ platform cuz i dont have one laying around(do one of you haev one), and of course someone will have to bring their tables, speakers, etc.... OH yeah and we're gonna need DJ's. So that was my trip to the City.
(That City Works guy Jay is freakin awsome he gave me so many ideas!)
Way in advance, put me on that lineup. Also, I will see what I can get in terms of a beach platform and generators.
sure man ya on the list. and it can last as long as we want it to(3 hours all the way up to 12hours) at worst itll just be us chillen and enjoying the music. btw does anyone know who the DJ was that was on right before Tiesto in SA?? i know hes from ATX and he seemed pretty good.

whatever the majority wants. i really dont care. i love trance dont get me wrong but i really havent heard any other EDM other than trance and hard trance.
i might get bashed for this but it would be cool to have alittle prog and maybe some house
just an idea
Variety is always good, especially here in Tejas where the trance following isn't the greatest of the EDM genres. Perhaps we should look at having a couple of stages instead of just the one? Oh, and I hereby donate my DJing services (Packer), and DJ Octane's
but whatever happens mate I'll be there with bells on.
I'll volnteer to spin on behalf of the Austinites. But I'll be there regardless of whatever.
