How do you have your HD(s) partitioned/formatted/setup???

How do you have your HD(s) partitioned/formatted/setup???

i just bought myself an 80 GB Western Digital hard drive for $50. woo hoo!.. i was awaiting the time to expand my space with my current 40GB hard drive..

i already used 30 of the 40 on my old hd, so i installed my 80G, and split all my information from my old one to new one .. left 50 of the 80g empty for future purposes (maybe install linux or something)..

so now i have all my trance choons on one hard drive and the rest of the choons on my new hard drive. i put all my games and picture imaging on the new hard drive, and put my life's work on my old hd..

big description there!.. hahah...
woo hoo.. a total of 120G .. now i need high speed internet connection, and then i can contaminate my hds with movies. hahaha

oh yeah, and i have an old dvd drive i got for $5 and a 40X cd writer for $20. still working, after 2 years..

Posted by yujie__ on Aug-04-2004 03:36:

20 gigs, ntfs, os/appz
200 gigs, ntfs, just trance
120 gigs, ntfs, appz/dls/stuff/docs/vids
60 gigs, ntfs, more stuff/appz

2 * 20 G (RAID mirroring) ntfs, OS
1 * 80 G misc
1 * 80 G misc
1 * 120 G misc

if its your only HD, then do 2 partitions, a smaller one for the OS and the rest for your DATA. If its not your second, don't bother partionning.

Yeah, that's right.

80GB Western Digital SE (1)
C:/ * NTFS
Operating System, Applications, and Important Documents

80GB Western Digital SE (2)
D:/ * NTFS
Music, Downloads, and Important Document Back-Up

C: (30 Gig Harddrive IDE for OS / Programs)
Will upgrade this to the WD Raptor 36 GB

D: (100 Gig Partitioned from a 250 SATA Drive)
Used for Games

E: (100 Gig Partitioned from a 250 SATA Drive)
Used for Multimedia

F: (50 Gig Partitioned from a 250 SATA Drive)
Used for temporary files

All in NTFS Format

I'll probably end up changing that E Drive because I don't think I'll ever have enough games to fill up 100 Gigs.

yeah .. those are really cool ..
especially the firewire plug hd's .. they made them for apple years ago, and now they have been distributing them for pc owners the past year or two.

i would buy it, but i live in a bad neighborhood where there is a lot of robberies and everything.. so i prefer most of the time the internal hd. it would take a guy 5 minutes to steal my computer, because i have it bolted to the wall.
