Cool edit Pro or Soundforge?

I'm getting my sister's computer for college, and her boyfriend has Cool Edit Pro on the computer. I was going to buy Soundforge once I got the computer(the $60 one).
My question is which is better, if anybody has used either. Should I buy soundforge, or use Cool Edit Pro?

save the money and just get cooledit pro

if you want to spend money for a recording/editing program get protools and an mbox

also very handy as a 64 track sequencer for production
