considering rock and roll died in 1980, I think the 70s were pretty damn good.

Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Black Sabbath
Jimi Hendrix

Not to mention Kraftwerk, who rock more than just about anything.

Full agree with everything said above...

But will add

Ten Years After (If you like Pink Floyd you will like them also)
Van Morrison
Steely Dan
The Eagles
Fleetwood Mac
Rolling Stones
The Ramones

70's "rock" owns...it is the only other music i can say i like besides trance/tech/prog/etc!

Yuh! Who imagined four straight-laced German dudes could give hip-hop such a positive push by way of Afrika Bambaataa? I still find this unlikely but incredible juxtaposition to be an amazing phenomenon to this day, and frown at the great disparity between hip-hop -- which, for all intents and purposes, shares many of the same electronic instruments and sampling methods as EDM -- and electronic music. Wowza.

As for 70s, one of my favorite tunes has to be this one:

The O'Jays - For The Love Of Money

It is truely a fitting theme for Donald Trump's The Apprentice. Too bad there is a bit of anachronism there because Trump is such a fixture of the 80s and beyond.

I also treasure the great Swedes known as ABBA. They combined catchy pop tunes with some intricate production that still boggles minds to this day, and ABBA Gold is so precious to me. Especially the hit known as "Dancing Queen" with its... tambourine.

I am also an admirer of much prog rock from that era, including some of the aforementioned names and the titans known as Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.

Oh yeah... who else here likes Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells?
