Cruise Trance and Landscape Trance

Cruise Trance:
A track that should be played while driving on the highway at night at a high speed. When you hear a Cruise Trance you feel like you're drifting away somewhere.
Examples:
ATB - Sunset Girl (Limited Club Mix)
Danny Howells - Kaito Release your Body
...Plus 12 other tracks.

Landscape Trance:
A track that should be played outdoors so everyone could hear it. When you hear a Landscape Trance you feel like you're out there.
Examples:
Plastic Boy feat. Rozalla - Live Another Life (Club Edit)
Active Sight - The Search for Freedom
...Plus 26 other tracks.

What do you think about these sub-genres?

I think that different people 'drift' away to different styles of music, really.

That shouldn't be played anywhere.

And these aren't real subgenres, you just made them up.

I think that's the point of his thread, to present the new subgenres he came up with.

I think.

So that's how subgenres are born.

No.

Posted by SuperFarStucker on Aug-07-2004 16:02:

Well, if thats the case, then I propose... post-surfing trance. The most decrepit and sinister of all sub-etha genres!

Posted by |cEbLu3 on Aug-07-2004 16:49:

I dunno if i agree with the sub-genres, but Tiesto - Dallas 4.p.m. is defiantely what you'd call 'cruise' trance

I'm all for the enthusiasm that mety333 is packing here.

Hey, keep repeating those terms and get new people to be aware of them, and you might have something on your hands.

Remember the origins of the word "quiz"? It's not that unlikely. Especially in this day and age, you can memepool something through the 'Net.

Its all music, why would someone care what genre a song comes from, if its good, its good. Even though its been mentioned already, you can't make up genres, based on where you listen to music. If i listen to trance on the toilet, i wouldn't call it toilet trance (although im sure this term has been heard a few times).

You didn't seem to get the picture.
I made up those sub-genres because when you listen to them you actually feel that way.

Go out with friends to a party or somewhere outside your city so you'll have to drive through the highway at night. Listen to the Cruise Trance tracks I gave and you should feel something unique.
It's hard to describe what you feel in that point.

I based those 2 genres on 2 tracks:

Cruise Trance: (discovered by me on 2004)
DJ Ton TB - Dream Machine
When my friend got his car licence a few months ago we drove to a party outside the city through the highway at night. We listen to a trance radio station and there was a track there that made me feel weird [DJ Ton TB - Dream Machine]. Hanging out with friends at night while driving through the highway...there was something there.

Landscape Trance: (discovered by me on 2003)
Moontrap - I Feel Free
I listened to that trance from the Tunnel Trance Force Vol. 25 (CD2) album. I was with my girlfriend at my room and we listened to music at a high volume. When I walked with her outside my building to say to her goodbye I heard my stereo playing at a high volume. I forgot to turn it off. While I was still outside my house I heard the track [Moontrap - I Feel Free] and I had a feeling that it was played somewhere outside in the world and not from my room.

When I heard the Cruise Trance I instantly remembered about the Landscape Trance I heard a year ago. At that moment I thought I should try to search for more tracks that feets in those sub-genres and I found out that I was right. I found quite a few.
I will post the full track list of all the Cruise Trance and Landscape Trance I found so far soon.

So what do you think?

Nah, I like my hobby better

Now I think I'll go listen to some Landscape trance...

Slusnik Luna - Sun

LOL I love Mr.Mystery....so cynical and analytical... and usually right on the money. Thats why he pisses everyone off...people hate to be shown anything that they don't wanna see.

Nevermind Mystery... they're all "followers".

...and although I don't think the threadstarter describes any NEW subgenres, I do think he has captured the spirit of something... his names more aptly suit some of the genres we already call Chill or Ambient or Mellow, etc...

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Aug-08-2004 01:29:

Okay okay, enough about me, back on topic...

Lolo - Landscape

Hard to describe because there isn't really anything to describe. You're just blathering on about the musical accompaniment of your experiences, and then declaring that the tracks which connect to your memories somehow constitute a class of music. Just because a piece of epic trance happened to make an appearance in the soundtrack of your life doesn't make it different or special versus the rest of the genre. This is the sort of ridiculous pseudo-intellectual drivel that makes today's trance scene such an object of ridicule.

Posted by mety333 on Aug-10-2004 08:45:

Anyway, most of you don't care much about it.
I have a big beach party coming up that I'm gonna play on and I will add some Landscape Trance to my set.
Lets see if I'll get special comments about it

Genres?

I think that genres, are part of the reason that electronic music doesn't have the respect it deserves. Look at how often you hear electronic styles in other genres? Do they call it landscape rock? Or Cruise Rap? no.... I don't think we need to create a new genre everytime someone breaks the mold with a track. or a new sound in a particular genre comes around. Honestly I don't think we should worry so much about genres, music doesn't need definition to be what it is. Same as people, people don't need names, to be who they are. just my opinion. good people are good people, and bad music is bad music, vice versa. Keep on listening, there is music for everyone.

Cruise Trance and Landscape Trance..............

.......

Posted by Dave Piazza on Aug-10-2004 09:04:

How about these genres as well

Take a Shit Trance--trance songs that make you take a shit or remind you of when you took a shit

Masturbation Trance---self explanatory

.....

Trance music can he associated with any particular thing. I think the current classifications ( prog. trance, epic trance, tech/trance, etc.) are good enough.

Posted by colonelcrisp on Aug-10-2004 15:11:

where's Ishkur when you actually want his opinion??

he is the king of making up subgenres.......

he even has one that is called not trance....
