How to use fx on my pioneer djm-500?
I know how to use the flanger, and echo...not sure about everything else.. and when to uuse them.
any help would be great . . .
Effects should be applied whenever you feel they should be. But, in trance music, effects are rarely used. It's very popular in techno though...
1 word...
Sparingly...
switch them on, play ewith the knobs and see what they do. then use them as/when it is appropriate!
the filter, transform, and reverb are harder to use but when you get them right it will sound good. never use the reverb on a full beat, it will sound shite. the transform is basically a fast cut, if you keep the depth pretty low it usually sounds better. the trick is to switch it on and off at certain points to get that fast cut sound. unfortunatly, the beatcounter on the djm mixers is shite, so its hard to use as the beat effects depend on it. filter you can use in a similar way to the flange, but you can be a lot more creative with. its often quite cool to put it on a very long filter, and bring a track in with it as opposed to using the fader.
there are so many ways you can use each effect, just sit down and play for an hour or two
