Confused What do you mean by trainwreck?

Lately ive been reading a lot about this tewrm called trainwrecking especially in reviews about tiesto gigs ... can some1 pls enlighten me as to what exactly this means???? thanks

it means he cant mix, the beats are not aligned properly and they clash - either the speed of the 2 records is not the same or they are the same but not aligned properly

as above really, and i always thought that the flow of a set can be trainwrecked, i.e Oakies set at GKGG 2004, he played Tiesto - Traffic after Tilt - The World Doesnt Know, thats just bizarre and ruins the flow a set, especially with Traffic so early on in a set!

What are you smoking? PvD is one of the best trance DJ's, from the technical standpoint. How many PvD trainwrecks can you name?!

Coming from a Supreme Tranceaddict, I'm positive that humor was the point of this thread...

I don't think that it was, but that's what it has turned into.

Just because you want Tiesto's mediocre mixing skills to be as good as other top DJs doesn't make it so. Please be honest with yourself.

c'mon guys don't bother tiesto rolleyes:

To Abhay and Orange Project:

Nothing irritates me more than people making statements without having the proper support for them. Let's do this just for fun.

Take all of PvD's sets from 2003 which are availalbe online. By my conservative estimate, that's at least 50 hours of PvD (3,000 minutes). Assuming average time between transition of six minutes, that's 500 transitions.

Now, let's say just for the argument's sake that a bad DJ would trainwreck 10% of his transitions (for Tiesto and Oakenfold that ratio is a lot higher). If you can bring me 50 examples of PvD trainwrecks during 2003 (50 is 10% of 500), I will change my opinion about his technical skills.

Until then, please refrain from making statements that without any support.

Excuse me mate but I have seen both live over 20 times each and I have seen PVD play uter shait with hurendous mixing and I have seen Tiesto play 6 hour solos at Godskitchenw ith incredible precision. Of course I have lso seen PVD play amazing sets and Tiesto trainwrecking. There is one thing I know and that is that PVD is far from being technically the best dj (not saying that tiesto is)

I am not trying to be difficult and I apologize if I sounded harsh. I just want to point out that it is significantly harder for me to prove that PvD is one of the better technical DJ's than for you to disprove it.

In order for me to prove my point, I would have to go through a long list of trance DJ's and find a way to evaluate objectively their technical abilities. That would a time-consuming and challenging exercise.

In order for you to disprove my point, you can do either of the following: a) Bring up enough examples of bad mixing by PvD; b) Bring up examples of trance DJ's who do a better job mixing.

In the end, we will most likely agree to disagree anyways.
