Will Laptops ruin DJ's respect

More and more DJ's like Tiesto,SASHA, etc etc are talking about doing away with decks .So no vinyl or cd.They say mixing off a laptop is the future with far more possibilities.
Do you think they will lose any respect or will be admired for taking us into the digital age a step further with new ways of mixing and making up tunes live from massive tune libraries on the harddrive?
what are your thoughts about your favourite DJ stood behind a laptop?

Wrong. Tisto agrees that CDs are a big part of DJ'ing future, but he said he will stick with mostly vinyl. He doesn't plan on switching over.

Oh, my God.

In your other thread, you said most trance DJs stick with vinyl because it's easiest for them, yet now you say all trance DJs are switching over? If you're going to make an argument, at lease make some Goddamned sense.

Posted by her throat cut on Aug-09-2004 23:18:

i never said all trance djs are switching to else then vinyl.

Well, then it's your poor grammar that threw me off.

"he wont be able as most trance djs.

only the fittest will stay."

You'll have to tell me what that meant.

you said that Tiesto is using CDs but he wont leave vunyls and i said he wont be able to leave vinyls just like most djs.

only the fittest will stay - i mean those who learned to use a lot more then just vunyls which wont be the case for trance djs.

And how do you know this? Are you the Nostradamus of EDM? Do you spin at clubs and large events?

Probably not.

Posted by her throat cut on Aug-09-2004 23:31:

i cant be too right, but i think i got an idea.

i been dealing with the club scene and dance music as whole for years so i have some idea.

And so have most of us here. I'm willing to bet you're just talking about "listening to trance and going clubbing a lot."

Posted by her throat cut on Aug-09-2004 23:42:

whatever man.

what happens to djs is not in my interest.
i respect only the producers.

i always tought djs were lazy bastards getting girls and money for not doing much.

U seem to be getting at Trance DJ's a lot with your posts, do u like trance just out of interest ?

i been into trance since the early days and as a person grows up, he evolves.
not only that, but trance has really made bad name for itself in the last couple of years.
i feel bad for the kids who are getting into trance just now.
they have no idea about good "trance" that was back years ago.

Hah!

I know quite a few people who are "just getting into trance" and they know and love tunes from 1998 and 1999.

you seem to be very confused, one post you are all for the future then the next you are dwelling in the past.

Why has trance made a bad name for itself in the last couple of years?

i have been into trance for many many years myself and i see trance having progressed with new ideas and new sounds.

the last couple of years has been really good for trance!

yeah, i admit. i am for new technology, but new technology kills the soul of what once was.
i have to admit i like everythis dating back to the 90s as time stood still for us to have one big party and then it all got messed up.
i have no time to explain how trance got bad in the last couple of years, because i got to go.
the reasons are many and you being a dj probably wont care for them and you only hope trance keeps going so you make money out of it and that is cool.
