Smiling Frog JL-Wicked Storm(Massive Remix)<256>

Haha, i don't wanne spamm the board but here is one more thing from me, this will be the last project for me this summer, 11 days till school , teh hell with life!!.

Anyway, when Kewlness posted the midi pack, i was bored and started playing with the melodies, added a choir, loop sounded nice, and decided to finish.

I aimed for the Thirllseekers style, the minimal trance one, think it worked , it's at 134bpm and made fully in Reason.
it's just something to relax at and the name don't fit my version at all

I deleted the thread for my remix becuase I want to expand on it and fix the things that were suggested.. i felt bad putting up a remix in that state anyway becuase I know that I didn't put all that I had into it..

but anyway, on to yours..

pretty nice intro.. everything sounds a little weak.. but not much..

I definitly think you drug out the intro too much.. i skipped through most of it becuase it was too boring..

at 3:20 now.. pretty nice breakdown so far.. could use a few more elements.. intresting way to use the lower part of the piano from the original.. but it's too much like the original.. u should of jazzed it up or something..

pretty nice way to use the melody at 5:00

nice production over all.. could of used some more elements and it's a bit boring for my tastes..

Great job there!
I really liked that chilled feel you came up with here, great use of the original melody.

Love this tune.

Alanzo, i never heard the original so i don't know what sounds the same and what not.

Nice and realaxing. Not too fond of that bass. I really dig those pads. This song is a little long for my taste. Very chilled. I like your work!

Posted by alanzo on Aug-12-2004 19:46:

"very chilled" seems to be a common phrase used to describe songs on this forum... is "chilled" trance popular at all? I listen to trance air waves often and I've never heard anything that is "chilled" to to the point of being boring like many of the tracks I've heard on here that get a "chilled" comment...

I think becuase we are amateurs we aren't very good at making a track a bit more exciting.. thus they get "chilled"... just a thought..

Massive,you are a brilliant trance producer !

This is a nice remix..there is no rush to add or remove elements and yet the track keeps your attention throughout.Beautiful melody and overall a very oldskool feel to it.The break is breathtaking. Not much energy in the track but I guess thats the way you intended it.Reminds me of Lolo productions (Extended horizon, to be particular).Keep up the good work..I'll be looking out for all your productions.I dont remember if I left a reply in your 'Revelation' thread, but I'll say now that revelation is one of the best productions I heard this year. You have some great ideas. All the best.

Cool

cool as funk fahad, i reakon it needs jamming full of percs tho, sounds a bit hollow atm

Posted by Timothy on Aug-19-2004 09:56:

It sound really nice. Heel goed gedaan man

Posted by Massive84 on Aug-19-2004 15:23:

cheers for all the replies

ya il see about more perc elements next time if i do something like this .

Posted by Lew.D on Aug-20-2004 07:58:

nice sounding track here mate.

nice percussion and fx... created a lovely atmosphere... pretty predictable bass progression, nothing wrong with that mind you. taking a while to develop.... in the breakdown now.... WOW. awesome pads here... with a nice plucky melody coming in later...
not too much else to say... nice melodies which fit nicely together.

i guess it could be considered chicane vs recluse.

not too shabby mate, not too shabby at all. good work

Posted by [mart] on Aug-20-2004 10:55:

Ah, really nice. That warm pad during the breakdown was beautiful, I would have liked to have seen more of it! Overall I agree with Luke - the remix sounds a little empty as it is and would benefit greatly from a thicker texture. It's totally yummy already though. Keep up the good work!

Posted by Massive84 on Aug-20-2004 21:11:

tnx mart and lew

ya i thought i had enough perc lines for this kind of style, but maybe i shoulda added some perc stabs or something .

hehe didn't knew the pads would be that special, just a subtractor

Posted by ManTrance on Aug-22-2004 20:17:

This is top notch. Gr8 production skills shown.

Bassline and choir pads work gr8 together. Especially with that flute-ish lead fluttering about in the background.

Gunna keep this one on ma playlist.

man, i had to sign in just to tell you that i really like this track........

Posted by John on Aug-24-2004 19:29:

hee fahad, ik leef ook nog whehe (Y), maare klinkt lekker hoor
sounds a bit hollow sometimes like luke said, but i wont blame you for that, i cant do better myself and perhaps the intro is not interesting enough like alonza said. other then that awesome shit
