Smiley DJ Jet insulting Dj's

I heard 'Rollover dj' by Jet on the radio and found the lyrics to bash djs. see for yourself below. do they have a problem with dj's or what the fuck is their problem.

"Got your Rhymes going round in my head
Got your supersonic beats mixing up my Keds
"So dance little DJ come on
"What's your name?

"I wanna move but I don't feel right
Cause you've been playing other peoples songs all night
"So tell what you're trying to say
What's your name?

Hey Rollover DJ
You're spinning away
On my time
Hey, who cares what you play
Say whatever you say, I don't mind
Hey, roll over DJ, if you don't mind

Well I know that you think you're the star
A pill poppin' jukebox is all that you are
So tell me it ain't that way
What's you're name?

Hey roll over DJ
You're spinning away
On my time
Hey, who cares what you play
Say whatever you say, cause I don't mind
Hey roll over DJ if you don't mind

[Bridge / Solo]
"Hey roll over DJ
"You're spinning away
On my time
Hey, who cares what you play
Say whatever you say, cause I don't mind
"Hey roll over DJ if you don't mind
Hey roll over DJ if you don't mind
"Hey roll over DJ if you don't mind

Who gives a shit about opinions of some band that's doing the same track that's been done repeatedly for 60 years?

Brilliant. I hate all those new "rock" bands.

Who the fuck is Jet anyway? I guess I'm out of the loop, cause I haven't even heard of them. Based on that, my conclusion is not to give a rat's ass what they have to say. Get the fuck out of my club would be my response if they brought that shit to me.

Posted by TJM on Aug-12-2004 21:53:

Oh dear, probably yet another depressive teen market 'rock' band with a chip on their shoulder. Obviously have strong opinions of DJ's, big shame they cudnt have channeled them into some well constructive or novel lyrics.

I think they did that ipod commercial song, that sounds like shit.
Theres hardly any good current bands out there anymore...

yay for Radiohead.

Jet and their fans should do man kind a favor, like start playing in traffic.

That'd be cause it rips off a bunch of other older tunes you've heard before probably... most Jet songs seem to anyway

Jet is just bunch of attention-seeking idiots from Melbourne.

I'm embarrased to be from the same country as them.

Who gives a shit?

Oh, indie rock doesn't like dance music? Shock-fcking-horror.

Posted by Fundamental on Aug-13-2004 02:07:

Yeah shite song, but fair enough if they wanna make music like that then that's their perogative.

At least here in the world of electronic music we are more clear about the views we wish to convey. i.e...

it might have something to do with the fact that jet are from Frankston

I fucking hate them because they are getting loads of cash for playing the most unoriginal guitar riffs and unoriginal.... "melodies"

Jet suck asshole.

Sounds like they've got a puzzling case of temporal narcosis to me.

I'm not familiar with this Jet -- I believe I heard one of their songs performed on SNL once. However, this is a rather wide net they're casting. Obviously, there are still DJs in the broadcast radio sense of the word who have helped to promote and push their music.

I am curious what they have to say themselves as for the story behind the song. It might be interesting, like, a DJ stole one (or more) of their girlfriends. Then again, it might not. It might just be a fun dig. But imploding psychology of humans is a fascinating thing...

... and in any case, it just brings more attention to DJs.

Additional question for icing on the cake: what do hip-hop DJs think?

Posted by Radagast on Aug-13-2004 06:30:

Okay I would understand the outrage if people were talking about real DJ's.
