who here flinches?

who here is a flincher.... I know I am

I just cant help it.

If somebody is mucking around and pretends to punch me, I flinch.

How bout you?

Posted by A.J. on Aug-12-2004 23:33:

wimp

*actually i think flinching is a natural reaction*

Posted by meneedit on Aug-12-2004 23:34:

yeah but some people just dont... ever

Posted by ShadoWolf on Aug-12-2004 23:34:

I flinch more than anyone I've ever met...

...I chalk it up to my cat-like reflexes

Posted by butterfly on Aug-12-2004 23:34:

all the time. i also shriek.

Posted by -=M=- on Aug-12-2004 23:39:

i dont flinch very much... but lets ask the bigger question

"who here jiggles their leg"

Posted by Arbiter on Aug-12-2004 23:39:

I don't just flinch, I move to block or avoid it. Once you've been in enough fights you just develop the instinct out of necessity.

shits me how I cant seem to get over it

Rasta

In highschool i had this friend that would always try to scare me...like walk and all of a sudden turn around and scream, or pretend to punch me, and EVERY TIME he did it my face was like stone....no reaction....nothing.

and he thought it was cuz i was a bad ass.... ( i pretended like i was)....in all reality- it was just stupid what he was doing and it didnt scare me at all lol.

but i am a flincher.....not so much but occassionally.

Another story:

So im in college and standing next to this chick in front of my door...and it was the kind of weather that tornados form...just quiet and cloudy as hell for a while...then WIND, strong WIND!

i see a flock of birds fly in one direction, and another go in the same direction. Now- i kinda like to pay attention to my surroundings and i said to the girl, "when the birds go, Javi goes"

and she laughed

out of nowhere a bolt of lightning strikes very near because EVERYTHING went white and the sound was horrifying- too loud.

The girl looks to her left and i was Gone..... i was in the bathroom hiding by the time she realized what defuk had happend.

i am a flincher

and i am a wuss- but put me in a shitty situation and my puerto rican legs go running

Posted by KilldaDJ on Aug-13-2004 00:36:

nope not really.

if something does get really close, then i dodge or whatever

but if i dont move, chances are that i'll get hit with whatever, end up getting laughed at, then hitting whoever hit me.

Posted by nchs09 on Aug-13-2004 00:37:

poeple never do like they are gonna hit me, so i dunno

but pr0bably out of instinct

Posted by Orbax on Aug-13-2004 00:38:

No, its mainly because I know they arent stupid enough to actually hit me

Posted by ShadoWolf on Aug-13-2004 00:50:

drugs?

Posted by Floorfiller on Aug-13-2004 00:51:

hmmmm....i dunno. i probably wouldn't flinch if i either am expecting it or don't see it hehehe.

i would say its funnier to really scare me. its not easy, but if someone sneeks up on me right i will fucking flip out hehehe.

Posted by enferno on Aug-13-2004 00:53:

i remember in highschool i was somewhat a flincher, and this one kid was natorious for throwing fake punches, one day, when i knew he was going to fake it, i threw a left hook right when he threw a fake punch and caught him in the solar-plexus and knocked the wind outta him.

he didn't do it again, at least not to me.

Posted by Tranc3 on Aug-13-2004 03:12:

I never flinch anymore, not on the outside. After I became a ninja, I knew I had to maintain a stony appearance at all times in the face of my many possible enemies.

But seriously, I don't flinch, only on the inside.

The flinch reflex is useful. If you want to try to control the blinking practice by splashing (clean) water into your own face and trying not to blink... apparently its an old muay thai training method.

I'm lookin to get back into martial arts and Muay Thai is up there on the list. Do you know where the school is? The only muay thai place i know of in Melbourne is MMA on malvern rd.

My buds and I used to beat the crap outta each other and try and scare eachother so much that everytime we are around eachother we flinch alot. The last flintching incident not so pretty. We we are the driving range hittin some golf balls of the tee. My friend broke his club, and outta no where went to fake hittin' me in the nuts with the stick, hit me square in the kalamoazoos. The rest of the day my stomach hurt and I was literally a numb nuts. The next day we dropped him of a the airport, and his brother hit him in the nuts with the same broken golf club. Funny as hell, but so painful on my nuts.

ditto like

my brother conditioned me to flinch when he fakes a punch (he's 4 years older than me)

the annoyinh thing is, I am now a fair bit bigger than him, and I could easily take him in a real fight, yet i still flinch!!

damn you pavlov
