Way more DJs use their real names than stupid aliases, thankfully.

myself included.

And my name doesn't even sound cool.

Posted by Dave Piazza on Aug-13-2004 05:36:

For example, I didnt know Paul Van Dyk was not his real name!

Is Armin van buuren his real name?

Is Markus Schulz his real name?

How about Sasha...obviously not real what his real name?

How about Ferry Corsten ..is that his real name?

Better question would be who doesnt use their real name?

I finding using dj names to be quite childish. I dont care for those elborate or even fake dj names. IMO who cares what your name is ..if you spin hot stuff than who cares?!

Out of the Top 20:

Tiesto, Sasha, Judge Jules, Deep Dish (obviously, coz they are 2 ppl), Tall Paul and sightly Marco V, however the V stands for his last name
Those names arent their real names... I think I havent forgot anyone

Tiesto = Tijs Verwest
Sasha = Alexander Coe
Judge Jules = Julius O'Riordan
Deep Dish = Sharam Tayebi & Ali Shirazinia
Tall Paul = Paul Newman
Marco V = Marco Verkuijlen

The rest of the top 20 is just their real name (afaik):
Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, John Digweed, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, James Zabiela, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler, Erick Morillo, Mauro Picotto, Danny Tenaglia, Eddie Halliwell

Yeah, its way better than my last name.

Corsten, Zabiela, Oakenfold, all kinda cool last names. But I guess these are partially good names because they are associated with good music too, but the names alone aren't bad either.

True - more DJs do use an alias, but more of the top DJs use their real name.

Your locals use an alias, at least they do where I live - I can't think of any that use their real name at all!

Actually it's the opposite over here. All the amateurs spin in their on name since they haven't really took the time yet to look for a name. Me I changed Jan to Ian, since Jan is pronounced pretty gay and feminine in english Not that I have anything against gay people .. it's just that I'm not
