hello jobbers, just wondering does anyone know where tijs verwest actually got the name Tiesto from? been bothering me for a bout 5 years now lol!

i think the story is something like it was a childhood nickname or something and it stuck...i don't remember details...i'm sure a tiesto addict will answer better than that.

Why did you choose the name "Ti�sto"?
It's a nickname of my real name "Tijs" and I love the name so much because it sounds happy and magical...

His name is Tijs Verwest, Tiesto is derived from it.
Ti(js Verw)est = Tiest and he added the o.

He had this explained on Another Day In The Office DVD.

He had a friend who was calling him Tiesto, putting the name Tijs to the italian manner As everything connected with Italy was considered cool

So Tiesto is Tijs in "dutch italian"
