Studio Question

I was wondering why alot of producers have 2 or 3 computer screens in their studio? Is it for running different programs on each? Plus, are the computer screens connected to just one computer or do they have one computer for each?

to make this thread somewhat useful..

I ask:

Can u run 3 monitors on one computer.. if so... is it a complicated connection..? and is there any good point in having 3?

Interesting... of course it could be VERY useful...just as two is. I only have a grafx card that'll handle two.
But the new Xentera GT 8 will handle up to EIGHT monitors at once.
We're talking a WALL of audio workstations!!! LOL
If you only want FOUR displays then the Xentera GT 4 will work nicely.
Xentera GT 8

Geez...now I need one of these!

Yeah u can run about 7 or so if you want (or more). You would just need three video cards, or a video card or two which allow you to have a few monitors off the one card.

You can run 2 on 2 pci's cards and the main one on the agp slot.
Thats the cheapest way. Ill be adding a third one in a few months

will the screen span on to each monitor like one GIANT desktop? if so.. can you put ones on top too? and make a 3x3 monitor desktop?

i think so

I don't see any benefits to those monitor/tv splitters.

If you want a big screen, why not just get a 50" plasma tv?
