No more "breaks room"!!!

My beloved "breaks room" @ system soundbar is closing... Friday nights R never gonna be the same without funky beats, best vibe, greatest dancers ever, and wicked DJs... I saw it coming but its just too soon...

i am surious as to why they are cancelling this portion? will it be replaced? i shall find out this evening WHATS up - maybe TRIBe doesn't want to have it there anymore - b/c it get awfully hot in there..

its kinda funny, out of the countless times i've been at system i've only entered the breakroom once..breaks are not my thing, but that room had a good vibe to it..wonder what they'll replace it with?

a chill out room would be nice

Im disappointed also....I've lately been really loving some hard ass shakin funky breaks. A nice change for my usual listening of prog and trance.

Sure it was hot in there at times, sure the crowd sucked ... at times but.......
Let me tell ya! I discovered the breaks room less than a year ago and whoa... funky ass shakin stuff. I am sure many of you have experienced BLC throw down some low down n dirty James Brown, ( wait I am having a moment here.... sigh!) Not to mention Dave Saddler and Uncle Bobby and Red Turtle. Ive mostly ventured down there myself- more so knowing that Colin and Dave are at the helm as I have been made to feel safe and this has made all the difference. They have been nothing but respectful to me and yes! I have seen them work the crowd both with their music and the energy they exude. and THAT has been instrumental to the communal vibe in this room. Attitudes are catchy and with DJs like these no club can go wrong. I for one am sad because this is the end of something comforting but on the other hand I look forward to seeing them in their new venue. Lucky venue to grab em I say. But until that happens- I look forward to joining these local talents for one last bash on Aug 27 when they spin in the System mainroom.WHHHOOOOTTT!!!! Bring on the funky-ass-shaking beats I say!! it will be a night to remember- I can just feel it.

i got hooked on edm in systems (mistress b.- haloween 2002).

haloween havoc 2003 i got hooken on breaks BADLY. fuck i spent that whole night in the back room jumping like crazy, got me "breaking the sound barrier" cd mixed by big league chu and dave saddler, and didnt wanna go when they finished, i even asked them to play some more (bEst party EVER, 11 thumbs up, no kidding).

and then it was always the same story, again and again and again...

"lets go to systems, ____________(<- insert some famous dj name) is playing friday"

and i always did....

saturday 5 a.m. "where were you man?"

and like always, I WAS IN THE BACK ROOM RIPPING UP THE FLOOR, ELBOWKICKIN' AND HAVING STUPID-SUPER TIME.

fuck, im gonna miss that room, music and people and the vibe in that small room was THE BEST. EVER.

so, on 27th after shorter break from clubbing, ill go to systems to pay propper respect to those guys, and have blast one more time before they move to that new venue (cant wait to see where will this weekly madness take place).

but, systems will never be the same for me (no bullshit)

before the renovations the breaks room was always awesome.. not sure what happened but the vibe there changed. i used to spend hours back there last summer... I'm not sure what happened, i find that breaks dancers are some of the best dancers but i've also found that a lot of ppl have trouble dancing to breaks. when i went to a techo night a track had a breakbeat portion and everyone was just standing there waiting for it to end, while I was busting out to it..

Liam- how's the toe coming along my dear? Hopefully all healed up as I will be looking for ya on at System dance floor on Aug. 27 AND expecting you do your part in tearing it up.

YAY- let us go celebrate our local Djs at System for this event. I am sure they will be touched( out of the gutter Liam ) to see such support.

And Finally- I am very pleased to see that many people do care for the breaks genre.... tis gooooddd!!!!!!!

w/ regards to the renovations, the main room is still nice and dark and i def like the layout better (moving the DJ booth). I do miss the comfy ample seating that was all over the entire club. I also miss the VIP room- the front room, as it has been discussed both in threads here and on tribe is irritating. If they woudl only paint the room, lower the lights a bit and get rid of teh red filters it would be fine- It's frustrating that so many ppl have agreed on the same flaws, but they have done nothing to improve it- how hard can it be to change the red filters,espcially when ppl feel lik ethey are trapped in a holding cell! When they open the main room it's like we are all breaking free!

Hah, yea.. I do enjoy the new layout.. but the fierce lighting has GOT TO GO! I'm especially happy about the chilling area next to and behind the mainroom DJ booth (a la Aria). Although having the booth on that side does cause all sorts of traffic problems. I liked it when it was closer to the front room (opposite side of the main room).
