New to trance
Hello, a friend of mine recently let me borrow a CD of his, Tiesto - Just Be. He said to check it out, and that I'll probably like it. I liked it so much I ended up buying it. But anyways could someone suggest to me something similar to this album? I also bought Sasha - Involver, and liked that a lot also, but not as much as just be. Can you guys give me some suggestions to start off a nice collection of trance music to add to my library?
Thanks a lot.
Paul van Dyk-Out There And Back
Paul van Dyk-Politics of Dancing
Tiesto-Nyana
Chicane-Behind the Sun
Armin van Buuren-76
anything else u can find on Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Chicane and Armin van Buuren
I feel like I'm starting to repeat myself, but:
Mirco de Govia - Chronoscale
first of all, check out the older albums, brush up on history, and then finding newer tunes becomes easier as you can find the artists you like most & carry on.
Tiesto - Magik Series
Ferry - Trance Nation Series (MOS) (1-4 and 2001)
Cream CDs = good until 2001
Gatecrasher CDs
Godskitchen CDs
Just keep on going from then on, and you should have a good foothold in trance
Tiesto's Nyana and Paul van Dyk's Reflections get my vote.
Also try:
Chicane - Far From The Maddening Crowds
Masterpiece!

the most irritating things about these threads is the various opinions about what`s good and not
go grab
Armin van Buuren - 76 listen to it about ten times and stfu

Try the In Search Of Sunrise series by Tiesto.
Anjunabeats Vol. 1 if you're interested in the lighter, more melodic side of trance. I love it to pieces.
Volume 2 is out in a month or so (if I remember correctly).
Jesus- im sorry but you all suck for not mentioning this cd...
Paul van Dyk- Global
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!
if u liked Just Be, then get In My Memory
I love almost all of the tracks on In My Memory

Tiesto In Concert (DVD)-- <--------A MUST OR ALL TRANCE ADDICTS
Paul Van Dyk- Out There and Back CD <----The Best
Paul Van Dyk- Global DVD
......
Suggest listening to some live broadcasts of Marksu Schulz, Sasha, and Armin Van Buuren.
Heyyy kingklubz, welcome to Tranceaddict -- a warm welcome to ye.
Hey, if you liked "Love Comes Around", you should know (if you don't already!) that the vocalist, BT, is a good friend of Tiesto and an accomplished producer. Thus, the logical conclusion is to check out his albums... one of them,
BT - ESCM
is cited as a landmark in all of trance and for good reason, the song "Flaming June" alone is a nice hybrid between catchy riffs and experimental sound design. Quite a treat. You'll love the melodies on it. BT is a friend of Sasha too, so there's even more connection. Hey, maybe you'll like Voyage of Ima, which is a mix Sasha did of BT's early mid-90 tracks from the IMA album. They also collab'ed on the track Ride which is a filthy electro-stomper, and further back, Heart of Imagination. Maria Nayler does the vocals on this, as well as several other popular trance songs. Here's a link:

And guess what? Sasha's an ally of James Holden. Holden is well-known for his singles like Horizons and A Break In The Clouds and the amazing compilation Balance 005, which is downright eclectic and a must-add to your collection if you liked Involver. Sasha and Holden worked together on "Boilerroom" on Sasha's album Airdrawndagger. Both Sasha and Holden like Petter as he is a common link on their mix compilations, so check out his tracks too, he's very precocious... and oh yeah, here's a very choice label:

Got sound samples on there too, so you're ready to go.
Another link in the Sasha connection would be another James, James Zabiela, who is known for his cool hair but more importantly, his deckslinging skills and eclectic ability to scratch like an old-skool turntablist on digital CDJ decks. He has a new mix album out, aptly called Alive. Fitting that the last track on this album happens to be BT's Childhood Montage, which kinda brings us full circle!
And I'm going to have to recommend you check out compilations too -- something like a Ministry of Sound Annual, because they include the most popular tracks of the year with an assorted variety of artists and you can figure out what directions you'd like to travel from there. And yeah, all the great recommendations given to you here!
Cheers.
Hey thanks a lot everyone! I never expectected such a good response. I'll keep all your recommendations in mind, and am happy to join trance addict. Thanks a lot!

Also, let's not forget the internet radios:
Just Be isn't the best album of Tisto until now, believe me
But when you like that one i'll bet you'll dig these cd's also:
Nyana - Mixed by DJ Tisto
In My Memory (DJ Tisto's first artist album) is very good, most people think it's better than Just Be, i'm one of them
You should probably check out Magik Six: Live in Amsterdam - Mixed by Dj Tiesto, it's one of his best mix albums in my opinion.
And if u still don't have enough try to check out In Search of Sunrise (part 1 and 2, esspecially part 1), for some more mellow trance, mixed by Tiesto
And, uhm, aspergian, Love Comes AROUND? :P Don't know that one
Like what UAnt stated.. Internet Radio station. Great way to discover new music.
I'd also recommened ets-global.org torrent section, where you might wanna download weekly Armin Van Buuren's A state of trance and RobVox sets. Awesome shit.
Lastly... welcome!
